How much have you spent on Downloadable Content this generation?
How much have you spent on console-only downloadable content this generation (Xbox 360 launch to today)?
For example: Xbox 360: Xbox Live Arcade games, themes, gamerpics, movies, TV episodes, extra content (Horse Armor, maps, expansions, outfits), etc. PS3: Games, etc. Wii: Virtual Console games, etc. Other: Any pay-for-download content on other consoles, etc. PC gaming does not count: Steam, etc. If you got any discounts on point cards or free points (True.com), were reimbursed by Geoff, etc. use the full value of your purchases, not their discounted (free lunch) value. If you've gotten points, but not content, don't count those points. |
i purchased 1600 points, retail, through xbox LIVE so far.
|
$40. All on Xbox live stuff.
|
Still on last last generation.
|
Probably about $50 worth of MS points used on Live Arcade and Downloadable Content.

Whoops. Didn't answer. I've bought $20-$30 worth of games for the Wii VC and I've bought every single XBLA game. I haven't spent a penny on any other game content except Uno decks which I thought were a decent buy (and the game was cheap enough to begin with).
|
How much do all the XBL games come out to?
|
retail, about 4-12 bucks
most of the REAL games are 800pts old classic arcade games, 400 pts |
For consoles I have spent $0 and plan to keep it this way.
I bought a year of Gametap for around $60 and that is about all the DLC I have even been interested in purchasing. No way I would pay the prices most of the DLC costs. NES games are not worth more than 99 cents and I'm shocked so many are paying $5 a pop for this stuff. A couple of XBL games do interest me, but even if I had a 360 I doubt I would spend more than $20 in a year. I have a Steam account, but still bought all of those games as physical media. I haven't bought a single game through Steam. I guess I'm not a fan because I find most of the content overpriced since it has no resell value and you get no physical media, manuals, etc. I see DLC as a way for Publishers to rip off their customers. The original purpose of it to add value to games already bought seems to have been completely exploited by many of the publishers involved. |
Zip. Nothing has appealed to me enough to drop any real money on it. Some Xbox Arcade games have been tempting, but I never pulled the trigger on any of them.
I will spend money on downloadable content on Christmas Day, however, when I get Super Mario Brothers on the VC. |
I bought 2000 Wii Points for $20 and have used 1600.

Old games don't bother me because in most cases you're not just paying for the game, you're paying for the convenience of not having to track it down on the second hand market, not having to get the console if you don't have it, get a WORKING console for that matter (I'm not blowing into NES cartridges in 2006), and then not having 22 consoles hooked up to your one television. The 360 games also are updated (like it or not) with achievements and sometimes online play, which makes the purchase a little easier to justify. I've only bought Mario 64 from the Wii Shop, as it's a fun little diversion to have around and it wasn't worth hooking my 64 up just for it. |
I have the 360 and the Wii, but I've not really purchased anything yet... Money's been tight and my gaming budget has been wrapped up in their purchase.
A couple things have interested me... Texas Hold Em on the 360, Zelda and Mario 64, Sonic and a couple others on the Wii... just haven't pulled the trigger. The time will come |
360: Geometry Wars, Assault Heroes, Oblivion: Razor dungeon & Knights of the 9 add-ons.
Wii: Gunstar Heroes That's about $30-$40 total - wich is a pretty good deal, considering the amount of solid gameplay I got for it. |

$0. Wii VC games are way overpriced. If I can start finding point cards for half price, I'll start getting things. Until then, I'll settle for having all my old consoles hooked up.
|
$30: Mario 64, Gunstar Heroes, Sonic (with 400 Points stored)
|
Nothing yet. I might DL an arcade game sometime, but this DL content for games I already own is something I just can't stomach. It seems so wrong to me.
|
I've spent ~$40 on XBL arcade titles. But I have spent $0 on extra content (and I likely won't spend any money there either).
|
I've bought 8000 Microsoft points since picking up my 360, and my mom got me an additional 2000 for XMas. I still have over 5000 points left, and have picked up the following XBLA games: Geometry Wars, Bejewled 2 and Zuma (for the wife), Cloning Clyde, Uno, and Assault Heroes.
Since the points never expire, I do my best to get them whenever there's a deal, and bought 3 of the 1600 point cards when BB had their "Buy a game, get one for $5" deal a few months back. |

As for the Wii, nothing has really perked my interest. That may change though during the next 3 months. |
I purchased 1600 points, for xbox arcade games (Uno and Galaga).
I have not purchased any add-ons for games I own. |
Wii VC games
Gunstar Heroes - $8 Golden Axe - $8 (should have held off on this for Golden Axe 2 IMO ) Mario64 - $10? Bonk - $6 Still have some points sitting around, but they will inevitably go for Sonic. I have no interest in extra content for modern games. Zip. But classic games I'm a sucker for. I've been weeding out some of my classic consoles for lack of time to play them, wired controllers being grabbed by our 11mo old, and composite video looking awful (although I haven't given up the NES & SNES) |
Xbox360: Zuma ($10), Geometry Wars ($5), The State (Episode 1 ~ $2), South Park (Teacher Bangs a Boy ~ $2), Additional pts to satisfy the Points god: 480 (~$6)
Xbox360: $25 Wii: 2000 pts came w/ my bundle, got Super Mario 64 ($10) and Zelda NES ($5) Wii: $15 Total: $40 Worth every cent  |
