XBox 360 additional warranty
 

What are the best extended warranties. I was looking at Sam's Club to buy my Xbox 360 and they have a 3 year service agreement for only 40 bucks that looks really good. I would rather buy the Gears of War bundle from costco, but I didn't see an extended warranty there. Circuit city's looks to be over twice as much for the service agreement for only 2 years. Any help you can give me on buying a bundle or service agreements would be appreciated.

While it isn't officially listed, Costco pretty much has a lifetime warranty. Just save the receipt.

IMO the official Microsoft warranty is the best way to go. It is slightly more expensive than some store warranties (it is $60 for 2 years), but the main advantage you get with the MS warranty is unlimited repairs. Most store warranties are good only for the system you buy it for. So if your system breaks, they give you a new one and your warranty is then void. You have to buy a new warranty to cover your new system. With the MS warranty, the warranty is carried over to your new system.

60 bucks isn't bad. Does the paperwork just come with the system, or is there something I need to fill out in the store?

There is a card in the 360 package that you mail in. Or you can call 1-800-4MY-XBOX. Either way works for the extended warranty.

Actually, I just called 1-800-4MYXBOX and they were able to give me the extended warranty over the phone.

Within 10 days. I chose the Microsoft warranty also. I have never ever bought a warranty for anything before, but after all I've read since the 360 came out, I'd rather be safe than sorry...

As far as I know you can sign up for the extended warranty anytime, as long as you own the xbox 360.

I signed up for the Microcenter 1-year warranty for $32 in case the unit goes south during the year, and I'm sort of hoping Microsoft comes out with a new version of the Xbox 360 that involves HDMI support (and other advances), and then I could turn my unit back in for credit and pick up a newer build model of the Xbox 360.

Wal-Mart offer some kind of exchange plan on the 360 apparently. My nephew got it when he got his. I am pretty sure it was $17.99 for 2 years.

No you don't. They send you a UPS overnight box free of charge whenever it breaks.

This is correct, and I know for sure as I have had 2 repairs since launch.

Until they change the policy, it is still free/lifetime at Costco, which beats Microsoft's $60/two years.
