Upgrade to DS lite ?
I have a regular Nintedo DS. Is it worth it to upgrade to a DS lite ? I was checking out the DS lite and the screen looks a lot better than the one on my DS. Also, does the DS lite allow for WPA encryption with WiFi ?

I love my ds lite. I think the colors and the brightness are excellent compared to the old one. I also like the shape better. I'm not sure about the wifi encryption though. I was able to justify the upgrade because I traded in my old ds to eb when they were running the deal when the ds lite first came out. So, I'm not sure if you can justify paying full price or not.

The DS Lite, as far as I understand it, is WEP-only. The Wii may offer more options, and that could conceivably be a prelude to yet another DS system in the future. Stranger things have happened, right?
I just got a Lite on Tuesday after years of owning no dedicated gaming hardware. It's an amazing little device. I thought I was playing on maximum brightness until I stumbled onto the little brightness control on the bottom left today while showing it off. I was shocked to find that there was an even brighter setting and that the lower brightness settings were also very playable. It's by far the best LCD panel I have experience with -- it puts everything I have had on notebook computers to shame. |
Yeah. I didn't buy a DS because it was so bulky and the screen sucked. (You'd think Nintendo learned with the whole GBA). Glad I waited. DS Lite is awesome.

I was on the fence about upgrading at launch, but ended up doing it and have not regretted it at all.
It's a night a day difference, being able to actually see the colors in games, the smaller design etc. I could never go back. |

I went ahead and picked up a black ds lite. After playing it for a couple hours yesterday, it was well worth it, the screen is soooooo much better. I have not tried the wifi yet to see if it works with wpa, but it appears to be the same as the regular ds, wep only.

It is indeed still WEP only.
Never bothered me as I'm not paranoid about wireless security. Just want to keep the moochers off. which probably isn't an issue given their are several WiFi points in my condo building, enough that it looks like all the neighbors have their own anyway. |
I have a 360, a Wii, and my wife and I just bought DS Lites, and I love it the most. Nothing makes waiting for the bus or riding on the subway better than this damn thing. Should have bought it months ago.
