Maybe that's why someone only got a 5-hour battery life out of their Wiimote.

I got my replacement Wii today from EB Games. I'm glad to have a Wii back in the house. I downloaded Sonic, Donkey Kong and Bonk's Adventure after I got things up and running. I hope I have better luck with this Wii and I did with the first one.

I was finally able to track down another Wiimote today at Target. They also had some classic controllers, but I don't have plans to make any VC purchases in the near future, so I passed on it.

The component cables really do make a huge difference. Today I was in EB and asked when they were getting component cables and the manager said Nintendo sent them one set today for the demo unit. He told me they were hooked up so I handed over my ID and went to try it out. I thought it looked worse than my home set up so I went to the Wii menu, sure enough they hadn't changed the option in the menu. I relaunched the game and difference was stunning in Excite Truck. The manager came over and thanked me and several customers were blown away by the difference. I only have a 34" inch widescreen tube and Zelda, Madden, and Wii sports all look pretty great with the regular cables so I can't wait until I can get some component cables.

I noticed a new update when I ran the system update, but there is no information on anything new. Any one have any idea what was updated?

There was an update a day or so ago that added parental controls. Is that the one, or is there yet another?

Good news. The component cables that I ordered on Thursday, and were originally on backorder throughout Friday, have now been billed to my bank account and are preparing for shipping. Looks like the shortage will soon be over.

I ordered on 11/22 and looks like they just shipped out of Seattle at 7am this morning. I paid for Blue/2-day, so hopefully by Monday I will be back in 480p. :) Zelda in composite is killing me.

Am I the only one interested in s-video cables for the Wii? It doesn't appear like NOA is currently selling official ones. They did release official s-video cables for the Japanese Wii launch though they're backordered at play-asia.

I am, and I posted earlier in the thread an e-mail reply from NOA saying they will be selling them...but the don't expect to have them ready until February.

Do you plan on waiting 'til then? Or are you gonna import them or get some 3rd party s-video cables? I see ebgames has the madcatz ones be released on the 26th for $30, but at that price it might just be better to import.

I had 3rd party s-video cables for the GCN and didn't really have any complaints with it.

Just waiting unless the third party ones end up being cheaper and that is just a place holder. I'm not much of a videophile anyway. I mainly wanted them so I could hook it up to my switcher and stereo (only takes S-video since that is how it is hooked up to the TV--cant' switch among multiple types of inputs).

But since the composite cable was long and you could peel the video off from the audio I had no problem just plugging the video in an open A/V on the TV and putting the audio through the receiver.
