Is this the biggest month in gaming, ever?

With huge titles like Cats for the DS, NFL Street Vol 3 for the PS2, and instant classic Online Chess Kingdoms for the PSP...

Er, OK. Let me restate my case.

Hardware news is big. The 360 gets its HD DVD addon. The Wii and the PS3 are released.

Final Fantasy fans get FFIII, FFV, and FFXII (let me fudge it by a day).

The 360's biggest release of its lifetime so far (Gears of War). The Wii gets the biggest release of the Gamecube's lifetime (Zelda).

Plus, you've got Elite Beat Agents, Guitar Hero II, Call of Duty 3, Rainbow Six Vegas, Castlevania, Smackdown, Resistance: Fall of Man, Battle of Middle Earth II...

Every single platform has at least one huge AAA title to look forward to. The PC might've gotten WoW's expansion if it had stayed on schedule.

Can you make a case for any other month?

are you grouping the beginning of December, and the end of November into one "month"?

Technically, the zelda game comes out for the cube in december, as well as some of the other titles you've mentioned.

Either way, yes, this season is HUGE for the industry

So many great games, so little time.

It certainly is the biggest month of hype in the history of video gaming.

I think his comment was meant to be sarcastic about the Wii getting the big Gamecube game.

Month? Hell, biggest week ever! Hardware-wise, that is.

UncleGramps 11-15-06 04:14 PM

Yes, yes it is.

Supermallet 11-15-06 04:19 PM

Castlevania is coming out in December. No longer is this the biggest month in gaming.

Mods, feel free to change the word month to "expanded 90-day-or-so period"...

I was going by a calendar on Game Informer as I couldn't find one online.

I think Wii + PS3 + Zelda + GoW + Guitar Hero II beats out Castlevania. YMMV. ;)

Not with the pre-order box they don't! :p

That's a good point. Best pre-order bonus I've seen in a very long time.

I don't think the hd-dvd addon has a thing to do with gaming.

Supermallet 11-15-06 10:30 PM

Except that it plays through a gaming system and a lot of people with the 360 are buying it.

If it makes you feel better, you can buy a plastic action figure and a comic book with your next video game purchase and pretend its a preorder bonus. :)

Yes, it's pretty overwhelming but I couldn't be happier.

But still adds nothing to "gaming" and thus shouldn't be part of the biggest month in gaming IMO.
