I was playing online this morning and it seemed like a lot of the rooms I joined had a large numbers of Japanese players. You can tell because the game shows a flag of your location. There were also lots of British players.

Did someone list "Lost Planet" sales in Japan?

Well, they did get it a month before us, which would explain the large Japanese populous.

They seem to talk less sh!t than americans, so Id so i prefer playing with these foreigners

Capcom Takes 360 by Storm

Lost Planet and Dead Rising are now million sellers.

Capcom announced that its two Xbox 360 opuses, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition and Dead Rising, have both sold over a million units worldwide. These remarkable sales place Capcom at the forefront of Japanese publishers currently producing games for the Xbox 360. Although the system may still be struggling in Japan, sales of these games certainly aren't. Following its December 21 Japanese launch and its subsequent European and North American launch on January 12, Lost Planet has already managed to ship one million units worldwide. Dead Rising has done the same since its release worldwide last summer.

Just picked this up last night. Loved the demos and love the game. Got in some very fun multiplayer last night and played through the first level. A nice break from all the tactical shooters (which are fun to play, but somewhat similar) that we've seen as of late.

Finished this last night - took UNDER 8 hours on normal but I didn't bother with the collecting acheivements. I did however take down the two optional bosses which was very cool. Real review coming after I knock out some multiplayer goodness - I'm only level 8 so far in that. One thing though, i was VERY disappointed with the final boss fight. It seemed WAY out of place for this game. I actually forgot I was playing Lost Planet during the battle.

I'm in the same boat, unfortunately. The biggest complaint I have is that this game is marred by crappy control decisions. Much like RE4 and Dead Rising, the control takes me out of the game because it feels like this totally artificial boundary to enjoying what's on screen, presumably in the name of creating 'tension'. I think the demo was fun because the hindered mobility didn't matter, nor did the stagger recovery nonsense.

I agree. I wish Capcom could figure out how to do control schemes and for me Resident Evil is where that crappy control scheme started. In Lost Planet, zooming to snipe is a joke. I mean once you get use to it it's ok, but it forces you to take you thumbs off the controls to zoom and that sucks.

I'll give them one thing, you can customize the views between 1st and 3rd and you can also set the reticule to move in a way that best fits your style with 3 different reticule behaviors and you can tweak the speed of movement on all three. Frankly I think ALL GAMES should give you choice of switching between 1st and 3rd person.

So far the single player is ok if not a bit frustrating; but the real fun is in Online Multiplayer.

Just beat this on normal. Only took about 6.5 hours. Anybody know if the extra bosses are worth another run through?

I believe that is the exact opposite view of every professional review out there.

How many Achievements did that work out to be? What is the offline/online split?

i really preferred the single player mode myself.

I think the enjoyment of the multiplayer online is dependent upon the level being chosen. If its a map that has about 2-3 mechs, you'll always find those people that make a mad dash for it, and its not much fun for everyone else. If its a map with 10+ mechs, i think it even outs the playing field.

Bite me! I likes what I likes and that's all that I likes. Sue me, online is fun as hell and the single player is kinda frustrating me right now. Damn snow worm!!

Plus, all the "Pro" reviews of 360 games are pretty half-assed when they get to talking about multiplayer for whatever reasons.

Saturday night I took the opportunity to play this online with Liver&Onions, eatntae and 13 other random jokers. At first the multiplayer seems a bit overwhelming, but after only one match I was bitch slapping L&O all over the map, Online play is super fun. I think we only played two seperate maps the whole time and my only complaint is that it seems like when you start the match all you have to do is take about five steps forward and you're right in front of the opposing team, so you have to shoot it out from across the map right away. Anyone else notice that?

Oh hell yeah! If you're on a talented team it's cool but if your team isn't as talented it becomes a killfest. I can't wait to hook up with dvdtalkers on Lost Planet. I know it'll be a blast.

Dude, we got each other once. lmao.
The two optional bosses are worth 50 points each, and relatively early in the game. Stick it on easy if you just want the points

Just traded in Call of Duty 3 and Splinter Cell: DA for this, so if you see me online send me an invite. I haven't even played it yet so I'm sure you'll have fun whoopin' on me a while.

Yeah and if you hadn't punked out to go play ranked matches we coulda had some fun. Oh well I had a good time anyhow, the controls take a bit of getting used to but once you've got em down they become super simple.

Giantrobo- the first match I played I had no idea where people were shooting me from so I was getting a little pissed. Then when I realized the starting point was directly across the map I was able to get like 4 kills within the first minute, the next match by just zooming in on that area and waiting for people come over a hill. Seems to me the spawning needs to be a bit more random.

No aurgument here. You make a valid point. I did see some Camphappy Spawnkiller bastards take advantage of this "flaw". Er uhm, no offense.

i actually like how you are invincible for about 10 seconds after spawning. If I know people are trying to camp on my location, i just gtfo with my grappling hook, or whatever.

If you feel its a big problem, change your starting arsenal to have a gun where you don't feel helpless off the bat

Wow, I ran past the big worm after many tries to kill it in an attempt to find a safe place to shoot from. I made it to the area with the Fancy VS battle and I still got the 50 point Wormkillier achievement but I never killed the worm.

Is this is a glitch?

You must've killed it at one point...but it spawns back quite quickly actually. I've seen plenty of people without the acheivement who are past that spot. I have a feeling Martin will NEVER get that acheivement however - he's just not skilled enough.

My review on the game should be coming live soon fyi

completely uncalled for.

I haven't had a chance to play the single player at all yet.

FYI a patch was announced. Here's the email I just got:

Hi there,

In our continuing efforts to respond to the needs of the Lost Planet community, the development team is currently preparing an update that will add additional multiplayer features, as well as fix a few minor bugs/exploits discovered post-release. The multiplayer features are being added by the team to address requests from players and should help players find matches with appropriate connections as well as foster better community by helping players identify each other by voice as well as Gamertag.

This update is currently slated to go live for all Lost Planet players around the globe on or about March 9.

Lost Planet Updates

* In the pre-game lobby, a country flag icon will be shown next to the Gamertag of each player. This will be especially helpful for determining location of the match host.
* In the pre-game lobby, an icon will be added next to each player’s Gamertag, indicating connection strength, speed and rating.
* In Team Elimination, Post Grab and Fugitive modes, an indicator will be added next to the Gamertag of the person who is speaking.
* At the post-match Results screen, an indicator will be added next to the Gamertag of the person who is speaking.
* At the post-match Results screen, Gamertags of the players who have left the session will be darkened.

Bug Fixes

* Sometimes in Fugitive mode there would be multiple Fugitives instead of just one -- Fixed
* Occasionally, if an error occurred on the lobby screen, another lobby screen would be displayed on top of it -- Fixed
* Sometimes when there was a long delay/lag, the game would hang at the transition screen going from the lobby to the game and then reboot -- Fixed
* Sometimes when there was a long delay/lag, depending on the console, certain players in the match would become invisible for the duration of the match -- Fixed
* Sometimes post-match Results screens would show players who did not participate in the match -- Fixed
* Starting a taunt animation during a reload shortened the reload time as an exploit -- Fixed

haha, I actually had that lobby glitch happen to me

right before the match started, I got dropped. For some reason, that lobby chart stayed on top, even after I went into a different match with a different host. The second match started, and that lobby screen was still on top of everything.

My entire screen looked crazy, but I continued to play because I was doing so well. After the matched ended, I figured it would just right itself. Nope, had to go back to dashboard

Cool updates.

Speaking of Taunts, has anyone tried or seen these?
