I've got one. A few of use have posted in the other PSP thread. I like it. It's not THAT much lighter, but it does feel a little better. The UMD slot feels cheap but I guess that helps make it lighter and the UMD goes in just fine. The screen looks a little better. They D-pad is a LOT better and makes playing Tekken DR a much more satisfying expierence. Haven't tried the video out yet; doubt I really need it. I hate the new memory stick slot and have no idea why that was redesigned.
Overall, it's not worth trading in your old one (unless you got it from Costco like me
), but if you don't have one, it certainly is an improvement.
Too bad none of my old accessories (case, Nyko Theater Expierence, headphone remote control) work with the new one.

I picked one up as well. I couldn't sleep last night and ended up playing 2 straight hours of Jeanne D'arc. That game is worth the price of a PSP all by itself. The buttons on the slim are better and the reduced weight makes it a lot more comfortable to use for long stretches. We all have our gripes about the UMD drawer, but honestly as long as you don't rip the thing open it will probably be fine. Not sure if it has to do with the game or the new PSP, but the load screens on D'arc are all under 5 seconds which is very nice.
BTW, battery life is fine. I may not bother with getting a bigger battery. I like the slim look and 5+ hours for gaming is enough.

Yes, Jeanne is awesome, especially for 30 bucks. Can't wait for FFTactics now.
I'm considering picking up a couple more $40 PSP games, with that buy one, get 2nd half off deal at CC for all portable games. Any recommendations? I'm thinking the Naruto game (which got GOTM in PSM) and Monster Hunter 2 (though I really just want to wait for 3 or whenever they finally implement online gaming).

Picked the new slim model up a few days ago. I've never owned one before and what I've seen is pretty impressive.
I've converted a couple of movies onto the memory stick. My only complaint is that any resolution higher than 320 x 240 I get issues with the sound being out of sync with the video. But 320 x 240 resolution is still pretty watchable.
Got the silver colour which looks great.

I got a slim yesterday and have been trying out a few different games. I think I will end up mostly using this for RPG's, as the system has quite a few good ones, and I haven't been crazy about the controls on some of the others. Of course, I got Daxter packed in with mine, so I've been playing that and it's a lot of fun. But I tried out Syphon Filter and didn't like the control scheme at all. I picked up Crush on the CC 1/2 off deal, but haven't tried it yet.
Speaking of the CC half off deal, do you think Best Buy would honor it as a pricematch? They have a much, much better selection than my local CC.

You know, the general concensus has always been that the DS is such a better system. While I do like the fact that it can be kept in your pants pocket and that the screen is protected, there haven't been many games on it that I like. Only Animal Crossing and New SMB get any extended play for me. I much prefer the PSP games by and large and I love the media capibilities of the system; having several movies on a single memory stick is so awesome for a short trip. Remote play also has potential, but clearly it hasn't been tapped yet.

To be fair, I think the DS has made better use of its controls than the PSP has. For a lot of games, the lack of a second analog stick just kills it. DS developers are better at making a game suited to the layout of the system. I think too many PSP developers just think it's a smaller PS2, which it isn't. As for movies and music, I don't use my PSP for that. If I want to watch movies or listen to music, I have an 80GB video ipod which is smaller and has much more available space. But I do think most of the bad rap the PSP has gotten came from the initial release, when it had practically no good games and a bunch of UMD's were released at more than the cost of a DVD and with less special features. The system and its software have improved dramatically since then.

It definitely depends on the type of games you like. Phoenix Wright 3 and Zelda will pull me back to the DS next month, but Halloween brings Disgaea on PSP and I will return for that.

I took advantage of the Circuit City handheld games deal and picked up:
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Jeanne D'Arc
Dead Head Fred
Mercury Meltdown
Killzone Liberation
Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
Sid Meier's Pirates
Parappa The Rapper
Add Daxter from the bundle to the list, and Crush which I bought yesterday, and I've got enough PSP games to last me for a while.

Holy Hell, that's a haul of games. Is Killzone Liberation $20 yet? I might get that with MGS : PO if it is. Have my eye on Crush as well...

Damn, I bought Mercury Meltdown but I thought it was Archer McLean's Mercury. It's roughly the same game, but I thought McLean's Mercury was smoother. This just feels like a knockoff. Luckily, I'm sure I could find the game I actually want used and on the cheap, as I think it was a launch title.

I was seriously considering a PSP slim back in July, then reconsidered, but now I am considering one again. In particular, the ceramic white Star Wars bundle coming out in early October, with the Vader image on the back of the unit. I have a bunch of store credit that I've accumulated and I feel like the proper way to spend it is to blow a chunk of it on a nice, luxury item for myself.
But I was wondering about the media capabilities of the unit. To upload songs to the PSP, do I need to have Windows XP? I have a crap Windows ME system that I use to upload to my early model Sony MP3 player (the small round one that came out a couple of years ago), but all their newer models require Windows XP to upload music. Is this the same for the PSP slim?

I got mine today from Amazon. Pretty impressed so far. I got the Dexter package. Honestly I'm afraid of accidentally breaking the UMD slot and the memory card slot. They feel really cheap.
I also got Loco Roco, and thats an interesting game.

Is the hardware poorly made?" receiving blank stares.
