Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Finally finished Valkyria Chronicles II. It was a heck of a value for $30. I put 60 hours into it and I still have a lot of maps I can do after finishing the game. Not to mention there is a DLC pack with 22 more missions. I enjoyed it overall, but like the first one I still found the difficulty spikes to be too high. The side missions are fun and not too hard, but the difficulty jumps big time on the story missions so expect to repeat those several times before you get through them. It does have an easy mode though so that is an option.

The maps are smaller and broken up and you can only use 6 soldiers so the experience isn't as epic as the PS3 Valkyria, but overall I still enjoyed the game.

Still haven't tried Knights in the Nightmare, but that should be up next.

I want to get all those on PSN eventually. Hoping for price drops.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

I have all the PSP Ys games now except for I&II. I played a long way into The Oath in Felghana and it is really good. Need to get I&II soon.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Continuing the Y's thread, I just picked up Felghana because they dropped the price on PSN for both that and Y's VII. So far, I'm enjoying it, though it does seem to be a bit short. Once I finish it, should I go back to Y's 1 and 2 or on to VII? Also, the Konami port is supposed to be awful, right?

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

So now the Loyalty Rewards program is up and I'm faced with a dilemma : I know I'm getting Mod Nations Racers, but for my other game I'm in a quandary : Should I grab Pursuit Force (which I don't have and have never played), or Killzone Liberation (which I have on UMD somewhere). The obvious answer would normally be get the game you don't already have, but if Pursuit Force (a very old game to begin with, and one that didn't get very good reviews at the time, iirc) isn't very good, I might be better off with Killzone as it would be forward-compatible with the NGP when it comes out.

Does anyone have Pursuit Force? Is it a really good game or should I just pass on that one entirely?

I played the demo, I received it somehow, I think because I was part of some special group or something. But anyways, get Killzone Liberation.

Pursuit Force isn't bad, but it's not nearly as good as Killzone Liberation.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

For anyone trying to grab one of the free PSP games I'd suggest waiting. I was looking over the PSN store and decided to try to grab one of the free games since I got right into the section without any errors. I selected my game and hit download. I got a popup saying something to the effect of "this game is included in the free PSP game 1 pack - you must first purchase the free PSP game 1 pack" and then nothing. No game download and now the box to pick game 1 is gone for me.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Downloading it, for the last past 3 hours, 44% complete, 87 minutes left.

At least the PS3 downloads are going faster, I think.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

My PSP has been downloading Little Big Planet since yesterday. Left it on overnight, and now this morning it looks like it's stuck at 95%. There's been no change for an hour. Do I risk restarting my download? Or is this really going to complete at some point?

By the way - for those who think they lost their games, I thought the same thing. If it looks like that happened, go to Account Management (in the Playstation Network XMB) > Transaction Management > Services List and it should still be in there to download.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

I downloaded both PSP games (Modnation, and Killzone) to my PS3 then transferred them to my PSP. I had started Modnation on the PSP but it was painfully slow.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

So, I just picked up a used PSP Go along w/ a cradle, extra usb chord, soft case and component cable for under $100 credit at gamestop. Just need to pick up a PSP 1000 ac adaptor for the cradle (genius design decision btw). I now have FFVII, Suikoden, Beats, Modnation racers, LBP and LocoRoco Midnight Carnival. I like the system a bit more than the PSP2000 I used to have. Does anyone have any suggestions for PSOne titles or cheaper PSP UMD Games on the PSN? So far I am eyeing:

The 2 Capcom collections
Capcom puzzle
Monster Hunter
Pixel Junk Monsters
FF VIII, tactics (no PSP version )

I will say that I am glad I waited for the accessories to be cheaper. Sony really tried as hard as they could to make this thing super expensive when it first came out.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Also, what is up with the ability to use a dualshock 3 with the go, but needing a PS3 to make it work?

Outside of ones you've listed like LBP, Modnation and Monsters, we've really enjoyed the Patapon series and Fat Princess.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

I really like the Hot Shots games - Golf and Tennis. I don't follow those sports like I would the team sports, so it doesn't bother me that it's all fictional and cute. They have a fun factor that's often not present in a more realistic game.

If you get Monster Hunter, you might want to be sure it's Freedom 3. The Japanese version of that game is getting a PS3 "remaster", but I'm not sure if it's only in Japan or what. There's always the possibility that it could come here later. But, be aware that Monster Hunter gets very difficult. If you're expecting a simple hack and slash, you will be disappointed. You really have to plan your attacks and prepare. Someone compared it to a declawed cat trying to defeat a human.

Did you get your Welcome Back games, if you had a PSN account before the outage?

I did. I actually sold my PSP 2000 about a year ago and still got the 2 free games I was pretty impressed that I was able to download the games I had previously purchased on my old hardware too. The vita being able to download all of your previously purchased content is a pretty big selling point to me.

I'll probably give patapon 2 a try as it is pretty cheap. The one review I read about Fat Pricess wasn't very glowing (though I got the impression that their problem was that it didn't live up to their expectations after the PS3 game).

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

I just started the Final Fantasy 1 remake on PSP. I remember loving this game in the NES era. My how times have changed. I don't think I can play it. The gameplay is just insanity. Random battles occur every 2 seconds, and it's the same thing over and over. No challenge. I wonder if FF collection is the same way.

They are on my short list too. Though I may wait (a long time) for a sale. Are they a grind fest or not too bad? I am pretty sure Pixy loves them.
