Maybe if it had come out in the last few months, but now, it'll just get lost in the shuffle. By the time it comes out, I'll have about 8 games to play through before I'd be able to get to it.

I have a PSP game from the TRU sale earmarked for this game. I'll wait for reviews to make sure it came out good, but it's likely I'll pick it up when it comes out.

For anyone interested GameStop has dropped the price of Blokus Portable to $5. This is a really fun puzzle game with an interesting Bumpy Trot (Steambot in the US) theme and is well worth $5.

what would you guys like me to look for in the game? I got it the other day, but it's under embargo until Nov 12 or 17th... but, if you have specific things your interested in let me know.

How it plays in quick bursts when playing alone would be nice to know, and if there's much loading and/or fussing about before getting to the gameplay.

Also, the only thing I didn't really like about the console version was how floaty it was. How floaty is the PSP version in comparison? With the smaller screen and crappy control-nubbin, the platform elements would have to be more forgiving than the console version.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Yeah, I'm worried about #1 how floaty is it and #2 is it confusingly on three simultaneous planes like the PS3 version?

Also, what inter-connectivity is there between the two versions?

The load times are pretty painful actually. And there is a lot of preamble before diving into the game, just like on the PS3 version. But once that's gone, it's easier to get into levels.

It's still floaty, but I don't think it's AS floaty as the PS3, either that or it just seems to work better on the handheld. The planes have been reduced to two - and there's a nice auto-move that happens when you may get stuck. All in all, I'm pretty impressed. The user created levels so far SUCK - seeing as it's mostly reviewers at this point. And I've seen no overlap in developer levels so far.

Also - I don't see any interconnectivity between the two versions :( But I'll keep exploring it.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

OK my review is up at the blog. As said, zero interconnectivity between the versions. The PSP version pretty much rocks, I actually like it more than the PS3 counterpart. I do wish that down coverted copies of the user levels would be usable on the PSP, but alas they are not.

And Chess - I gave your Lost level a shout out in the review, just didn't mention you by name though...but feel free to ad that to the comments if you want to pimp yourself :)

I read your review. Sounds like the PSP version is worth picking up -- I'll wait for a sale or something. Is all the content new, or is it the 30 new levels plus the previous game's levels as well?

The PSP is 30 new levels, no porting of the PS3 levels.

Plus, all the user created content made on the PSP is available if you have wifi.

If anyone wants free comics for the PSP comic reader Sony is giving away 3.
Just enter these codes in the PSN store through the PSP.

724K-A4BG-JLD7 - Star Trek Year Four: The Enterprise Experiment #1

FF3N-H7B6-M2JF - Astro Boy Movie Adaptation #1

EC2N-9HBR-HJD6 - Transformers: All Hail Megatron #1

BTW, the coverflow thing works great.

Awesome! I wanted to give it a try and see what it looks like. Do you have to download a comic reader at all or does it just do it automatically?

Here's another code for a free comic:

If you click on the comic reader it takes you to the webpage to download it to the PSP. After that it launches when you click on it.

DAMMIT! One of those codes, I entered but exited before downloading. Now I can't re-enter the code and I can't seem to redownload the comic no mater what I do. Anyone have any idea what to do? Where the hell can these comics be purchased from? I can't find them in the store.

edit : Figured it out. Account Management > Download List. I was looking at the transaction history in the PlayStation Store which didn't work.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Since I went out of town for Thanksgiving I took the dust off of my PSP. I have one of the originals, fat ones. Still had firmare 5.2 or something like that and upgraded to 6.2 or whatever is the latest.

I really like all the new features, all the new games. It seems Sony is paying attention to it again. When it was released it was really supported by Sony, a lot of cool games, cool features. I remember I used to rip my movies and watch them in the PSP when I was in the road. Somehow, I think Sony abandoned the PSP in the middle of the journey.

It seems they are coming back now. I loved LBP, just tried the demo, I also tried a few other demos that were recently released and was really impressed. Also tried the Transformers comic and the application is so cool.

I'm actually thinking about upgrading my PSP to a 3000 model.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

I didn't like Half Minute Hero and sold it. Used the money to pick up LBP and so far I'm really enjoying the portable version. It may just be me, but the control seems a bit tighter than the console version. Still haven't picked up any of those pinball games. I love pinball, but those tables just look like the free gimmick tables they give you with Sony's NBA PSP game and not serious tables.

I picked up a copy of LBP PSP along with Call of Juarez Bound in Blood, used my Discover card and my $20 COD MW2 credit and paid only $27.99 for both. Looking forward to trying it out tonight perhaps. How is the online community so far? Any good levels to recommend?

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

I know I'm gonna get some flack for this for whatever reason, but I bought a PSP Go. This is my first PSP, and I really like it! Granted it's more expensive and there is less game selection, but I'm not looking to buy the entire PSP collection. Currently playing God of War and I'm very impressed with the quality. I really dig the "pause game" feature so that I can save anywhere at any time (at least I have been able to so far).

I have a few PS1 classics I'll want to play through, but anyone have any PSP recommendations? I tried out Resistance Retribution but it didn't do much for me...

darkside 12-16-09 11:53 AM

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Don't see why you would get flack. I like the hardware of the PSP GO and if I was getting my first PSP I would be tempted. My problem is the large UMD game and movie collection I have makes getting one pointless unless I want to sell and replace all of that stuff.

Of the games available now I'm probably playing LBP the most. I also loved the Castlevania Rondo of Blood remake.

It just seems like the Go gets a lot of hate is all. Thanks for the recommendation, i was thinking about checking that out...
