Thanks, Sony, for forcing me to buy more memory stick duos!!

Actually micro memory sticks. The Go doesn't support Duos.

I'm saying that I have the first model of PSP, which I believe used to have problems with >8gb sticks. In which case, I'd still have to go out and buy more cards. I'd rather have a collection of UMD games discs than having to switch out memory cards.

$249 for the Go. Good luck with that price point Sony. You can pick up an entertainment pack with a game, movie and 4GB stick for $200. Who in the hell would pay this for a PSP that has a smaller screen and no UMD support. It really isn't that much more portable.

Yeah, can someone make sense of this for me? It makes absolutely no sense to release something like this at that price.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

In case somebody wasn't checking the PSN thread : You can go to the PSN store right now and get Final Fantasy VII for download, playable on both the PS3 and the PSP for $9.99. That has to be the best deal around. If it were coming to the DS, it would have been $39.99, and of course the DS wouldn't have really been able to do the FMV parts justice. You'll need a big memory card thought -- it's 1.4 GB.

Wasn't the original PSP something like $299 when it was first released?

As for who would pay that much for it, I'd say those who are primarily gamers who want multimedia capabilities. Sort of the flipside of the iPod people who are primarily media people who want gaming capabilities. $249 seems to be the pricepoint for portable media devices.

Of course this assumes that Sony will introduce a significant update to the capabilities of the PSP music player. My G1 phone comes with a better music player.

The one, the ONLY thing they did right is that they haven't moved to make the PSP obsolete (yet at least).

So is there anything that the PSP Go can do that the regular PSP can't?

The PSP Go! can hide the controls...

But no, $80 more gets you a UMD-less PSP.

The PSP launched at $249.99 with a bunch of crap in the box (I know, I bought one). The PSP Go! launches at the same price sans all the extras price and a UMD Drive. The only added thing is built-in 16GB flash. Of course, to add additional memory in you have to buy Sony's newer, smaller M2 cards as well.

Well, that makes the $7 Logitech case I bought last week from Amazon seem like even more of a bargain now!

Seriously, what the hell are they thinking there? This thing has N-Gage written all over it.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

I picked up the Rock Band Unplugged "Limited Edition" psp & game bundle and am pretty happy with it. I'm not blown away with the handheld but it is nice and they seem to have fixed some earlier complaints which is nice.

For those that care, you can get a PSP 2000 for like $115 right now.:

Dell EPP has Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) 2000 for $120 - 7% auto off in cart = $112 ($107 w/ DPA) with free shipping. Thanks Selma

If paying with Dell Preferred Account (DPA) you may save an extra 3% (4% at Dell EPP), here is how:

During checkout, select Credit Card as method of payment
Click "Change Payment Type"
Click "Choose" link under Credit/Debit Card (again)
Under "Save 3% (4% at EPP) with Dell Preferred Account! (Discount applied at Final Checkout)" click "Click Here to Take Advantage of this Offer" link
Click "Choose" under "I already have a Dell Preferred Account" if you have one, or sign up for a new one if you don't
Checkout, enjoy your 3% (4% at EPP) savings

There was some free Japanese Flash game a while back with the same concept as Echochrono - make multiple runs through a level and use your "ghosts"/replays to push buttons, solve puzzles, etc. Wish I could remember the name of it.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Persona PSP to include full two-disc soundtrack, snow queen

Don't get me wrong: I'm grateful for every soundtrack disc Atlus sends our way as a game pack-in via their Atlus Spoils program. I love having the music to listen to separately. But it always seems that I'm missing some of my favorites in these selection discs. I'm glad to say that this will not be the case for the upcoming PSP game Persona, a remake of the PlayStation role-playing game that kicked the popular series off.

Atlus sends word that Persona will be packed with the full two-disc soundtrack, composed by one of my favorites of all time, series composer Shoji Meguro. If you watched our E3 interview on Persona, you'd know that the soundtrack has been totally revamped for this new version. The songs we've heard are fantastic, and have us even more excited to finally get the game. I cannot wait to hear the pharmacy song!

More great news: this version of Persona will include the Snow Queen quest, content never available before in North America.

As you see above, Persona will come out as a premium-boxed package, complete with the game, two music discs, and the shiny collector's box. This all drops on September 22nd, my birthday. Atlus is giving me what I've always wanted for my birthday.

Re: The Official PSP Thread - Part 3

Day one for me also. Retronauts did a show on Persona last year and talked about the poor localization for the PSone games including the Snow Queen quest being left out. Glad we are finally getting a proper version and I can only hope it sells enough to get Persona 2 on PSP as well.
