Xbox 360 Wireless adapter work with a PC?

So, I was thinking, will the Microsoft xobx 360 wireless adapter work as a Wireless NIC for a Laptop or PC or is it designed to only work with a 360? It might make it worth it in the long run if it also worked with a PC in a pinch, just wondering. Please let me know, i searched and couldnt find anything that answered my question..

Sorry, but I can't see paying $99 for something that is $20-$30 for a PC. Does the 360 only work with the official Microsoft adaptor?
