EA’S BURNOUT 5 CRASHES ONTO PLAYSTATION 3 AND XBOX 360

Criterion Reinvents Seamless Open World Gameplay With Reckless Speed and Destruction

Guildford, UK – August 29, 2006 – Buckle up and prepare to unleash automotive anarchy in the ultimate burner’s paradise. Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that Burnout™ 5 is in development for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360™ video game system from Microsoft®.

Burnout 5 gives players license to wreak havoc in Paradise City, the ultimate seamless racing battleground, with a massive infrastructure of traffic-heavy roads to abuse. Gone is the need to jump in and out of menus and aimlessly search for fun like many open world games; in Burnout 5, every inch of the world is built to deliver heart-stopping Burnout-style gameplay. Every intersection is a potential crash junction and every alleyway is an opportunity to rack up moving violations.

Of course, rules are made to be broken, and when gamers enter Paradise City, they’re assigned a Drivers License that quickly begins to amass a record of player’s most aggressive, reckless and destructive exploits behind the wheel. But it’s not the law that’s eyeing player’s progress … when gamers push things too hard they’ll be squaring off against the city’s most infamous burners, and these legends aren’t interested in who crosses the finish line first.

“Burnout 5 is a complete reinvention of the series, built from the ground up for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360,” said Alex Ward, director of game design at Criterion Games. “To create truly next-generation gameplay, we needed to create a truly next-generation game, from top to bottom.”

Burnout 5 also delivers the next level of speed and destruction, with brand new next-generation technology allowing gamers to literally rip their cars in half, in the most explosive pile-ups in the series’ history.

Burnout 5 will ship in 2007 under the EA™ brand and was developed by Criterion Games in Guildford, UK. Sounds like they are taking alot ideas from SSX 3. Which is a good thing.

Or Test drive unlimited?

PalmerJoss 08-29-06 05:38 PM

Regardless of where they're getting the idea from, I gotta say that I like what I'm hearing. I think the idea of an online, open-world racer is really great and definitely a step towards creating that 'next-gen' feel that a lot of games for the 360 seem to lack.

Looks like my little brother(17) will be getting X-Box Live in a few weeks. (My Dad is debating whether or not to get it for his birthday(I mean X-Box Live + High Speed Internet). He has the following games for it.....
Halo 2
Saint's Row
Perfect Dark Zero
Is there a DVD Talk X-Box Live group me and him can join. Mind you it will mostly be him,as I live 1 hr 20 mins away. Me and him share this account.

xmiyux 08-29-06 07:44 PM

Scope out the gamertag list and send out invites to people with games you guys will be playing. As long as he isn't an ass i'm sure most people will be happy to play with him. Just make sure you include a message that they are from DVDTalk.

Ok thanks. And indeed the high speed internet is a reality. It has been ordered.
And no he isn't a ass. However if his friend comes over... Damn, make sure the person is Joey, and not Josh. Because Josh is a ass. His favorite quotes are mother jokes and "You take that and you like it"(which annoys the crap out of both me and my little bro) Oh and like I said it will mostly(if not all to be honest)be him. I again, live 1hr 20 mins away, and its very hard to get over there with work, and when I do I like to visit my family. So :)
But again thanks, and I will let him know. His loves are Video Games and DVDs.
Its a shame there is no 2-player for Dead Rising(as he loves it,and one of his favorite movies is Dawn of the Dead. But if you see differences in posts,it is because we share this account.

TNAJason 08-29-06 08:04 PM

Oh and how can I find the DVDTalk(VideoGameTalk) Gamertag? Sorry but never used X-Box Live before and don't know my way around the thing. I need to know for when I tell my little bro the details(or I send him here for the details.).

xmiyux 08-29-06 08:08 PM

Look to the Xbox Live gamertag thread stickied at the top of the forum. goLucky does an excellent job maintaining it.

Also, just fyi, but i believe it is against forum policies for two people to share one account. Make him register his lazy self, post on here so we get to know him.

Also, if i was gaming with someone new who was saying things like "You take that and you like it" i can guaran-freakin-tee that he would be booted the next game and not invited to future games. I would be willing to bet i'm not the only one on this board like that since for the most part we are older gamers who don't want to put up with obnoxious kids. Now kids who can play fair and remain civil... or at least just pick on Martini or goLucky i can deal with. ;)

Who's this martini guy? I used to play with a Martin5, but he tried to smack talk me, so I kicked him off my friends list and added him to my ignore list. ah well...he's not that important.

Quoted for truth. I don't like insistent trash talk from people I don't know. Like last night and "girl gun!". Tbird, eatntae and EXodus Prime know what I'm talking about.

That Guy 08-29-06 09:01 PM

No if my brother says anything about girl gun,it will be because he has one  You think I should have him get WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007 for the X-Box 360 so he can play on X-Box Live? My brother BTW sucks at Halo 2 and won't be getting Saint's Row & Perfect Dark Zero until the same day he gets X-Box live. He will prob make fun of himself.

xmiyux 08-29-06 09:12 PM

You need to get him the Game of the Year edition of Call of Duty 2. It is a much easier game online (a little more arcadey) and we have a great group that plays it pretty frequently.

Eric D. 08-29-06 09:18 PM

That's cool man. I'm sure your bro's fine, I'm just having some fun :). You guys should pick up Call Of Duty 2 if anything since most of us tend to play that the most. If it's possible have him exchange it for Perfect Dark Zero if he has yet to open it. No one around here to my knowledge plays that game and the single player isn't too great imo. Just be sure to let people know you are from DVDtalk when sending out friend requests.

I will tell him. Call of Duty 2 I guess I will get him. He just gets depressed/bored some times, and wants to play with someone, now he can :)
So he will have .....
Call of Duty 2(Pending of which version)
Perfect Dark Zero(already bought....used for him)
Halo 2(He has this)
Saint's Row(already bought for him)

His birthday is September 22nd,but he will get his birthday gifts early thanks to wanting to run with the already being planned on install of High Speed Internet(Aldelphia),and we have all chipped in on a Full year X-Box Live Gold Membership. Quick question, can you play Halo 2 on X-Box Live on the 360?

He will most likely be on around September 15th. Be sure to tell him Happy Birthday and congrats(he turns 17 on the 22nd,which is why I said 17 when I said how old he is) ;)
Oh and I just found out his X-Box(Preminun(sp?)Edition) didn't come with the X-Box Live Headset. Anybody I can contact about that?

Yes, this is still the most played game on XBox Live if I'm not mistaken. You will have to download a small backwards compatibility file in the beginning. And make sure to download the extra free maps that they have for Halo 2.

Chris

Is the backwards compatibility download free?

Yes it is, for all games. They just added a whole bunch more games a couple of days ago. That makes more than 250(?) Xbox games that will play on the XBox 360.

Chris
