Are the 360 system problems still an issue?

Last night I put in Viva Pinata and when the game started the graphics were jumpy and had white fringes on everything. I restarted the TV and it was not the problem, so I then restarted the 360 and it worked fine. I am a bit worried since this is kinda what the graphics did before locking up and giving me the red rins last time.
My first 360 made it about 11 mos before problems, this on has less than 20 hours on it.

I've had my 360 since launch. And the only problem I've ever had was two weeks ago when I first put in the new Tiger Woods. It froze on one of the menu screens. But since then, not a hitch.

I received my rebate check from Micro$oft this week for the $129 they tried to gig me on a repair two months back. Anyone else get theirs?

Was it the fan or heat issue they were planning to update with production runs next spring? Any word on that?
If I don't get the $100 amazon sale I'd probably just wait till then anyways...

I've been having some weird sound issues. It happend on Rainbow Six:Vegas and Marvel Alliance. It's like the music was glitching but the SFX and voices were fine. The Game is fine but suddenly there's no ambient/background music. It happened on RB6:Vegas 1st then Marvel UA. On Marvel UA, I paused it when it happened and the music came back but I just stopped playing because it was late.
I wonder if the CD drive is getting weird?

Well, I think my 360 has crapped out. All of a sudden, I just get green fuzz and sound. Made sure all connections were tight, tried a different input on my tv, reset the 360 video settings to default - all to no avail. A couple times I got the three red lights, indicating a hardware failure.
And no, I don't have the extended warranty, so I'm basically screwed. Yay!

Well, I debated back and forth about the extended warranty with my recent 360 purchase from Overstock. In the end, I figured the peace of mind was worth $30 for two years. Looks like maybe it was the right decision. I guess we'll see.

My 360 is relatively new and I've had no gameplay problems at all so far however the optical disc drive is pretty loud. Is this normal? The manufactor date says June 2006 - not sure if that info means anything.
thanks.
thanks.

I'm pretty sure its the fans you are hearing. When you play a 360 game all the fans kick on vs a DVD or regular X box game, they only run some of the fan capacity.

"The required cooling capacity of the fans is determined by the system electronics usage scenario; high cooling capacity is needed for intense game play applications, and less cooling capacity is needed for DVD movie viewing. Plus there's the operating environment (ambient temperature and altitude of the console) to consider."

My friend decided to pick up a 360 yesterday. He went all out, bought 3 games, extra wireless controller, 2 recharge kits, and a premium 360. He got home, I came over to his house and went on our way to set it up. We push the power button and the red flashing lights of death came on.
Talking about a big let down. He was on hold with Microsoft for over 30 minutes. He said F it and is just going to take it back to CompUSA today. I ended up bringing my 360 over and we played some GOW.

are you sure it wasnt just ONE red light? That would mean you didnt plug the video cord in fully--a common thing when setting it up the first time.
otherwise it should be no prob just returning it to the store I guess.

Nope it had three red lights blinking. All were blinking except the top right section.

I think one of my case fans went bad (or got disconnected), system is overheating and freezing (Back gets really hot during GoW and Lost Planet). Not willing to pry it open in fears of voiding my warranty.
Picked up one of the Nyko Intercoolers to see if it may help the problem. (Can't believe people w/ systems in perfect working condition buy those things. But if it helps w/ a dead fan, I'll be happy.)

It's not a risk if the console eventually breaks, I give 0-1.5 years of life for ANY 360 before it breaks.
I have 4 Original Xboxs, they are all working fine!

I think the redesign will help out substantially, the chips they have now just simply run too hot.
