I'm assuming that includes copies bundled with systems software (which would account for GB Tetris, Duck Hunt, and Super Mario Bros... how many people actually bought that one separately?)
Interesting some of the disproportion among the different markets. Grand Theft Auto, Halo, and even Goldeneye are non-factors in Japan.
The list does appear to have some notable omissions. First, anything from the Atari era is absent. I know Pac-Man for the 2600 sold something like 7 million copies. Plus the PC games only lists the Tomb Raider series, when games like The Sims, Myst, and Half-Life have easily sold over a million copies apiece. Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...nd_video_games
Here's top sellers by system:
NES - Super Mario Bros 40.24
GB - Pokemon Red / Blue / Green 31.37
SNES - Super Mario World 20.61
GBA - Pokemon Ruby / Sapphire 14.74
PS2 - Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec 14.36
N64 - Super Mario 64 11.89
PS - Gran Turismo 10.84
XBX - Halo 2 7.66
DS - Nintendogs 6.85
GC - Smash Bros Melee 6.05
GEN - Sonic The Hedgehog 2 4.92
DC - Sonic Adventure 2.47
PSP - Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories 2.40
PC - Tomb Raider 2 2.24
SAT - Virtua Fighter 2 1.93
SCD - Sonic CD 1.50
X360 - Call of Duty 2 1.26

I wonder if you don't consider all (currently) 4 versions of Nintendogs as a single title, what the #1 DS game would be. My money's on NSMB taking that spot if not now in a few months.

I think that 1.48 million isn't enough to knock Nintendogs off. Even if it was evenly distributed 6.85/4 = 1.71. And I think it is safe to assume that they aren't even distributed. May take a while for any title to hit 2M on the DS to try to take that outright...

This list is way incomplete when it comes to PC games....would make me think the rest of the list is a joke as well.
Off the top of my head there's The Sims, Diablo (I/II), Starcraft, Warcraft 2/3, AoE, Civ 3, Doom 1/2, Baldur's Gate, Half Life, WoW, and of course Myst which used to be the top selling PC game ever. Sure I could think of a ton more if I had a mind to.

The GTA trilogy has sold a TOTAL of 830,000 units in Japan? That's hard to believe.

As far as I am aware of they aren't into racing or fps games as America's are.

Kinda cool that the most blasted Nintendo system, N64 snagged 4 of the top 30 spots. Pretty impressive if you ask me, especially since the GC doesn't garner an entry until around the 50 mark.

Okay, it's still a work in progress and I have a lot more to do, but this is what I've done so far. I've taken the original websites information and updated the sales info (they added almost 100 videos recently) and then used other information from other sources.
Once I'm done with all of the links, then I will just have to maintain and update all of the sales info for the future.
I think Wikipedia is a good source of information on these games and I've included GameRankings.com average score for each of the games. Of course the older ones (pre Internet) have less chance of having a score. I've also added the year that the games were released in either the U.S. or Japan.
