The Oblivion Physics Model

This is just so cool.

I think it's made using the editing tool in the PC version, rather than on the 360, but we're still looking at a kind of underlying mechanic that's way ahead of the previous generation of game consoles. I thought it was cool when you bumped into a table and all the stuff fell over or rolled around, or when you dropped a sword and it clattered down the stairs, but this is on a whole different level.

Very cool. Reminds me of that Honda Cog video.

swords can't stand up on their tip like that.

Look closer. There is a rope or string that it is leaning up against.

This physics in this game are great, but I hate how when you drop a shirt it stiffly clatters to the ground.

Half Life 2 has some really awesome physics too. Here are some more physics videos recorded from the PC version of Half Life 2.

Why do the books fall so slowly? That drove me crazy, although it's still cool I guess.

Was the paintbrush glitch intentional? I can't see how all the testers could have missed that.

Ketamine 05-28-06 01:14 AM

Meh. Couldn't stand the huge space between the book and sword each time the book made the sword fall. Looks like it needed a little more work.

Man those are pretty sweet. Thanks for the links. Lot's of other cool stuff there related to HL2.

the physics in Oblivion are cool though, I was standing on a side hill and killed a bear, it rolled down the hill bouncing off rocks and trees, it was really cool.
