Nintendo Press Conference (aka Drop the Bomb!)

Nintendo's press conference is slated to start at 11:30 AM CST (last I read). I better get as much work as I can done before then.. as I'll probably totally useless once the show starts and likely until I go home! Anybody lucky enough to be home or at work without lame site blocking software needs to take up the duty of posting updates here.

Will they open the show with Queen's "Wii Will Rock You?"

Will they comment on Sony's lovely new controller?

Do they have one final secret to reveal for the Wii?

Will we finally see the new Mario?

Will they announce a price and date?

I can't imagine they would even bother to mention a controller that was shown off by a demo of a guy being completely unable to control an airplane.

Hope they announce a price and a date. Screen shots look very Xbox from what I am seeing so far so I want to hear that $199 price so I can rest easy. If they go above $200 I just don't know.

i think with PS3 announcing at 500-600, its in their best interest to announce the price. hopefully 199.

How could I forget?! Kid Icarus!

pinata242 05-09-06 09:05 AM

I expect: Price, Date, Mario, Wii-controlled Zelda, Smash Bros Wii, MP3, Kid Icarus, and at least one new IP.

There will be great talk about Online and Wifi. Wii-DS connectivity.

Miyamoto and Iwata and/or Reggie engaging in a game of "online" tennis.

Reggie will have a long piece of paper on which to record all the names of the asses he kicks.

Even though he isn't nearly as relevant anymore, I keep thinking they will put Sonic in one of these Smash Bros games. That would be hella cool if they did.

And I LOVE Reggie. He is so Alpha he can't help but be funny. It's like you aren't getting troops ready for war, you're talking about Mario.

I am super excited about this conference.

Hurry the hell up!

Supermallet 05-09-06 09:57 AM

I'll be at work while this happens, but this is easily my most anticipated event at E3. I cannot wait to hear what Nintendo has up its sleeve!

Any live feeds? Audio or video?

Over the last week or so, my hate for the Wii's name has died down, and I actually kind of like it now. I still feel a little silly saying it out loud, but I can live with that. Very smart of Nintendo to announce the name early so that it doesn't overshadow the rest of their announcements at today's conference.

After Sony's disappointing showing last night, I am incredibly excited to see what surprises Nintendo has in store. I don't expect anything shocking from MS, so I'm counting on Nintendo to deliver. I have a lunch meeting from 11:30 AM - 1 PM, but I think I'll duck out at 12:30 to catch the live feed. :D

Considering that the Wii will be at least $300 cheaper than the PS3... I no longer care if they call it the Nintendo RunnyPoop.

PixyJunket 05-09-06 10:35 AM

I just hope I can finish this damn project I'm on before lunch.. I'll probably be too busy chatting it up here once this conference starts.

edstein 05-09-06 10:38 AM

$250

It will be 199.

Its hardly a step up from a gamecube, and they sell those with 4 games for less then 99 these days. The controller was all R&D costs, not hardware costs, i bet that thing is cheap to make. So im sticking to the 199.

I couldn't agree with this more. If it is $249, then it will contain more than just the console and one controller, even if it is just a 2nd controller to make it truly "Wii".

Leaked source.

lotsofdvds 05-09-06 10:48 AM

Well, they've changed the name since that "leaked source". Who says the price hasn't changed as well?

Liver&Onions 05-09-06 10:49 AM

That's true, but color me tickled if it is 199. Very tickled.

pinata242 05-09-06 10:49 AM

Whether they consider the PS3 competition or not, Sony did give them a little breathing room on the price too. They could easily charge $250 for it without batting an eye.
