Hmm... so should I cancel my preorder for the (GCN version) Zelda, since there are apparently going to be two versions of the game?

Looks like the low-res is available for download from Gamespot. You'll need to be logged in to get it to work, I imagine.

I was very impressed with the Wii presentation. The system looks like it's going to be a huge multiplayer party machine! I can't wait to play. Plus Mario Galaxy looks amazing! :D
Also I'm very intrigued about Disaster: Day of Crisis. The video footage looks cool. Disaster: Day of Crisis™ Format: Wii™ Launch Date: TBA ESRB: RP (Rating Pending) Game Type: Action Accessories: TBA Players: TBA Developer: Monolith KEY INFORMATION Survive nature’s most devastating catastrophes in Disaster: Day of Crisis, a panic-inducing survival game for Wii. In a devastatingly short period of time, an unprecedented wave of natural disasters has pummeled the United States. On top of this inexplicable series of disasters, a rogue special forces unit has taken advantage of the chaos and seized a nuclear weapon. Only Ray, a former member of an elite rescue task force, has decided to take a stand. • Cutting-edge physics and gripping visuals re-create the sheer terror of major catastrophes. • Players race a car down a mountain to escape a roaring pyroclastic flow, dodge toppling buildings during a devastating earthquake and swim for their lives in a raging flood. No matter what happens, fight to survive. http://wii.nintendo.com/images/fea_gamepg_disaster.png |
That game looked interesting to me too, just not enought real info for me to get excited about though.
|
Is Disaster related to Disaster Report for the PS2? I loved that game and the "HEY!" button.
|
Great stuff. Of course, I'm sad at the lack of pricing. But 100 DS games by the end of the year! Man.

Anyone else bothered by the clips of people playing? It's like here's a 2 second clip of metroid and here's a 30 second clip of some deuche bag hidding behind a couch.
And it's not a japan thing, they hate it too. |
I watched the entire conference, and while the people playing was annoying they did show plenty of gameplay footage. I wasn't impressed with some of the graphics, but that's not really what I care about. I'm a little disappointed in how Red Steel looked though. The animation wasn't too fluid, and that kind of stuff distracts me, but I liked how fun the other games looked. Of course Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Warioware, and pretty much everything else I saw had me very excited. This might be the first system I ever actually preorder.
|
As a whole the DS is the system I'm most excited about after all the conferences. Sony barely mentioned the PSP and the new consoles are a long way off. 100 games though? Damn.
Even though the DS is getting badly out shipped by the PSP I'm glad Nintendo hasn't decided to just give up on it. |
Does anybody have any sites with impressions from the show floor?
|
We will once Flay logs some time and has a chance to post :)

Yeah, they seem positive. I'm mostly interested in getting non-media impressions (I know its supposed to be a media event) and a confirmed list of the 27 games on the show floor for the Wii. I really hope Piliot Wings is one.

I have a friend there.. but I probably won't hear from him until he's back in town!

Looks like this might be posted as a download, but if you want to stream it:

I'm a little worried about their impressions of the controls. I know it's early and they need to do tweaking, but they weren't really ecstatic about the feel. However I do trust Nintendo since when I first played Mario on the DS, I hated the controls, but as more games have been released I love my DS, as so many others do here.
I'm still shocked the nunchaku has motion sensor abilities as well. Is this new for e3? I don't remember them ever mentioning it before, and think it's really cool that you can have 2 independent motion sensored controllers. You really are using both your hands inside the game. I can't even imagine how much fun these games will be if Nintendo truly pulls off this control mechanism right. |
I think they talked about the nunchuck before, but never showed it off the way they did at E3. Most of the info was on the wiimote.
