Using a driving wheel from a couch

I have a Logitech MOMO wheel for my PC, and would like to play one of my racing games on my HDTV which is hooked up as a 2nd monitor to my computer. Has anyone ever used the lap attachment you can get for the Logitech wheels? How well does it really work?

I read reviews of the Logitech lap deal at Amazon. Uniformily bad reviews, so I guess I'll look for other options.
