Jimmy, we get it... you're sad it's not on PS3. Look there's a dead horse, let's go beat it. ;)

Link to new IN GAME videos of GOW2! The 4th is particularlly amazing.. This game cannot come out quick enough!

Gametrailers has the entire demo broken up into 6 different video clips. Looks like GoW2 hasn't toned down the nudity at all. The demo ends with a fugly medusa busting through a wall, and her fugly nipples are clearly visible. :yack:
Here is a screenshot I found of the scene with her nipples censored: http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...3050112246.jpg |

New 24 minute video of GOW2!!!! UNBELEIVABLE!! The tipping of the scales part blew me away, this game and its designers can do no wrong! |
So has anyone else played the demo? It's a battle against a giant colossus. If it's any indication, the boss battles in this game are going to be amazing.

I never played the original. Should I assume this is a must-buy game if I am a big fan of action adventure games?

I'm inclined to say "HELL YES!!" but just rent the first game or pick up the play for the second. I don't think you'll be disappointed. :)

The sequel got a 9.7 from IGN.
Intense, engaging and over the top, the PlayStation 2's swan song is as nearly perfect as they come. When the sequel was announced, fans wondered not if it would be a worthy follow-up but whether Sony's Santa Monica Studio would actually be able to outdo the original. After all, rather than making the leap to next-gen, the developer decided to keep the franchise on the PlayStation 2 for the time being. Citing matured technology that would allow them to focus on content rather than having to work through the growing pains associated with in-progress engine development, Santa Monica Studios took the road most traveled and wound up producing what amounts to a near-perfect sequel. The answer is that yes, Santa Monica has indeed managed to better the original, though given how fantastic the first title was, just barely. It's not an exponential improvement, one that an appearance on the PlayStation 3 may have brought, but rather an evolutionary one that has seen what small imperfections the original God of War contained polished out. |

So anyone buy this yet? I bought it just now on my lunch break, but I won't get to play with it til i get home.
|
I can't wait to play this one but I think I'm going to wait a bit. I know as soon as the Oblivion expansion comes out in a few weeks I won't be playing anything but that. Please post some impressions when you try it out.

I've only had 20 minutes with the game, but so far I think it's safe to say if you liked the first you will like this one. The grapchis are some of the best I've seen on the PS2, but I wouldn't go as far to say it's on par with the next gen systems (a few people have suggested it's just a smidge behind).

After seeing a CAG thread about the game, I ordered a copy from Buy.com using the Google Checkout discount. I opted for free shipping, so it'll take a little while to get here. I enjoyed the first game but wasn't blown away by it, so I didn't want to drop 50 bucks on this. I have other games to keep me busy right now, but based on the gameplay footage I've seen, I'm excited for this one.

Like it so far but am rather disappointed that your stats from the previous game didn't roll over at least for the early part of the game. All we go was Poseidon's Rage (which is useful but I was hoping to have a bit more fun in the early portions. Oh well.

Just copped this like an hour ago.
Amazing game! Graphics are great (for a PS2) the story is interesting, the characters are great and the action is bananas!! Very over the top and crazy. I love it. I just started and beat I guess the first "level" intense shit. Though GoW was progressive scan when you hold the tri and X though I can't seem to get it to work with this game, maybe because its newer it switches to pro-scan automatically?? not sure I am still messing with it. |

Is it just 480p for the PS2?

Man! What a fucking great, FUN game this is!
I mean, I loved the last one, but this really bumps it up to a new level. Even with all the great video games we've had lately (Gears of War, Oblivion, R6:Vegas, Zelda:TP, New Super Mario, etc.), this is the first game in a while that I've been itching to get back to when I'm not playing it. I really wish I could just take off from work and spend the whole day at home playing this, I do have to say though, that the sex and nudity are rather immature and childish, but I guess it's also sorta funny. But the best thing about this game (besides the great levels) is how well it controls, and what a pleasure it is to just move Kratos around. Why were these next-gen consoles forced on us, when such great games can still be done on the old consoles? |
if i knew i'd keep the blades of athena, full poseidon magic, and all my health and magic stats i would have started the game on god mode.

I picked up this game yesterday....only played it for about an hour......but man is it great. I loved the first game and this one is just more of the same. The Colossus at the beginning of the game was definately harder than the Hydra from the first game.....but it was great fun. Its amazing to think this game is on a PS2. The graphics, sound, control, level and bad guy design....all top notch. If they release God of War 3 for the PS3 it would seriously tempt me.

I picked it up yesterday and played up to the beginning of the swamp level last night. So far I'm really enjoying the game and I can't wait to play some more tonight after work.

Yeah - and the only negative thing I can say so far about GoW2 is that there's a lot of screen-tearing - but I guess that's the price to pay for the best graphics I've ever seen on the PS2.
Also, one of the things this sequel has over the first one is how well the levels are paced - it gives it a great forward momentum, keeping things fresh by constantly introducing new elements and not letting anything get stale. No loading-screens during gameplay also helps. |
