X-Box 360 Transfer Kit

Anyone have it? Tried it out? I picked it up from Best Buy today at lunch. Only $15.

You can back-up your save games to your PC, and supposedly transfer files back and forth.

So my thinking is that anyone that has one we can share kiosk type extras, or OXM stuff for those that don't get it. For example, I can't find any of the Burnout cars around me, but being able to have them emailed to me from someone who did find them would be great. Add in themes (Condemned off the OXM disc) or gamerpics would be cool.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Cool... now we can get rosters for the NCAA games! If someone makes them, of course...

tpc 04-11-06 02:55 PM

How's that work? Not real familiar with the 360. Does it hook into a memory card of some sort, or the console itself?

I used to have a similar device for the Original Playstation. Worked well

Michael Corvin 04-11-06 03:06 PM

^----^

Plug the USB into the 360(or PC), and put the memory card into the other end. So yes, you need a memory card for this to work. :)

operationsports.com has them for college hoops 2k6

DVDKrayzie 04-11-06 03:26 PM

so does this totally kill the achievements?

Michael Corvin 04-11-06 03:28 PM

BTW, this also comes with an adapter and works with the original xbox & memory units as well.

fujishig 04-11-06 03:28 PM

You still can't transfer achievements or bought Xbox Live Arcade games or anything that you couldn't otherwise transfer with a regular memory card... this just allows you to transfer memory card saves via the internet, or store them on your computer.

well couldnt u just load your downloaded save game then get it? say achievement is beat level x, you download a save that is right before the end of level x, walk forward, bam, achievement unlocked?

I had no idea this even existed. I will buy one ASAP. I have one for my original XBOX that works great.

edstein 04-11-06 04:36 PM

Too bad you need the memory card. My 360 and computer are setting on the same desk. It would be nice if I could just connect a usb cable between the computer and the 360 to do the transfers.

MasterofDVD 04-11-06 05:30 PM

I'm really on the hunt to find something to help me save space on my 360 but I think this might be more what I want:

http://us.codejunkies.com/images/art.../Xsata-01b.jpg

I just heard about this today and it runs a USB cable to the PC to save all your info. I'm not up for springing for a transfer kit AND a memory card.

Michael Corvin 04-11-06 06:23 PM

That's kinda cool, but shouldn't it be wireless? How many people really have their 360 near their PC?

Daryl 04-11-06 07:25 PM

crap, none of the Best Buys near me have it in stock

DVDChris 04-11-06 09:37 PM

So let me get this straight. Can this be used to transfer saves on my current Xbox to the Xbox 360?

Canis Firebrand 04-11-06 09:40 PM

Would love to share 360 stuff.

And no, you can't use the transfer kit to get a saved game from xbox to xbox 360. I bought it thinking I could do that.
I can get the xbox saves off the memory card onto the pc. But the program won't transfer them to the 360 memory unit with the other adapter.

I was wanting to transfer over my 75+ custom halo 2 game types.

Michael Corvin 04-11-06 11:42 PM

Alright, I played with it a little and have some stuff saved if anyone wants to try and swap files(all are freebies, so we shouldn't be breaking any rules).

On my save file:

OXM: Condemned Theme
OXM: GRAW Gamer Pic(s)?

Kiosk: Burnout Revenge Theme
Kiosk: Burnout 360 Car

Marketplace: Kameo Holiday Theme
Marketplace: Rare Theme

Maybe 1 or 2 others, I can't remember.

I'm looking for the BB, CC, & Gamestop exclusive Burnout Cars and any themes, pics that are able to be saved. I haven't purchased any Themes or Pics so I don't know if you can save those and transfer them, but, FWIW, the ones that ship with the 360 cannot be transferred to a MU.

DVDChris 04-12-06 12:50 AM

Out of curiosity, what happens when you take the regular Xbox version and connect it to a USB port on the 360? Could you possible transfer files that way?

Michael Corvin 04-12-06 05:41 AM

Can't do it. It is two adapters, the 360 one has a USB plug and the regular Xbox has the controller plug on the end.

DJ_Longfellow 04-12-06 06:28 AM

I'm eventually going to pick this up for NCAA rosters when it comes out later this year....seems like an interesting item. You can also use the Xplorer360 software I believe.

Canis Firebrand 04-12-06 06:39 AM

Michael Corvin: I'd love to have all of those sent via a zip file.
This is a great way to trade items that those with Live might not be able to get or those that can't or don't purchase OXM.

Michael Corvin 04-12-06 06:56 AM

Looks like these files are going to be pretty large(mine is 14MB), eliminating email. Services like megaupload should work though.

Vryce, YGM.

Canis Firebrand 04-12-06 07:05 AM

14 meg. yikes.. that would eliminate email.

An upload site is perfect though. Thanks for doing this.

DJ_Longfellow 04-12-06 12:12 PM

So, any deals on Memory Cards anywhere? I want to get this, but no hurry yet unless someone makes some damn good rosters for MLB. NCAA is really my only need....and trading a few free things I suppose.
