Long entombed thread uncovered (Tomb Raider hits some Wednesday in 2006)

I'm sitting on a 360 until April 19th (son's birthday), but I'm thinking of letting him crack it open Wednesday so we can check out the new TR game. I was surprised to see it will be on the XB & PS2 also...I thought it was a 360 exclusive. Are you getting it, and if so, on what platform?

I downloaded the 360 demo a few days ago and enjoyed it a lot. I am stuck between buying Tomb Raider or Ghost Recon now.

I know I'm going to cave and get MLB 2k6 which everybody is saying could be terrible, but I'm a sucker for baseball. I've only heard good things about this and the demo rocks, so perhaps if I've got some extra cash I'll grab it on 360.

I've never actually played a Tomb Raider game (and after seeing some of the previous reviews for some of them, it doesn't appear I've missed a lot) but this one looks good. Let me know what you folks think.

After playing the demo (360) I'll definitely be picking it up later this week. The controls still aren't as solid as games like prince of persia or god of war but the graphics were very well done and the one level I played was a good time. The lock-on shooting a la GTA worked well also.

If you are not big on Live! play, you may want to get TR. I played GRAW and it seemed quite short, I think I got more single player enjoyment from COD2.

I downloaded the TR demo, and I am just not that excited about it. I guess if I had the money, I would buy Oblivion first.

Heck yeah... I'm a long time TR fan, own every game for PS/PS2 (and even a few of the PC versions). So I've been eagerly awaiting TRL since the last (regrettably weak) TR: Angel of Darkness was released. I really hope it is worth the wait. There hasn't been a really good TR game since the fourth one, which was way back in '99.

BTW, Circuit City is apparently selling it for $10 cheaper this week than any other B&M. Hopefully they get enough copies that it doesn't sell out (well, before I can get over there and pick one up) because it's back up to the full $49 next week.

i'm not really big on the TR games, but the graphics in this one for the 360 are awesome. i thought the demo download from live was fun, but i'll probably pass on this till it hits the sale rack a year from now.

I might pick up the PSP version in May, depending on the reviews. It's supposed to be a pretty good conversion despite the portable factor.

Good to know. Good to know. Thanks.

I've never played one, but considered this. Definitely a rental then.

I'll be picking it up for sure. Stopped playing after the third one on the PSone, but this one looks worthy of a revivial.

It's one of the few importable titles on the 360. That said, I'm surprised Fry's doesn't have it on sale. Also, this site I've never heard of and doesn't seem like it should be selling games, has it for $54 shipped free:

What do you mean "importable?" English options? Just curious as I saw it at play-asia for $40 US while checking out the DS.

It seems I just don't have the patience for these kinds of games. I played the demo and really didn't see anything wrong with it (well, except for the way Lara climbs up onto a ledge then goes into a handstand). I get frustrated too easily by jumping and vine swinging.

I wanted to like it though.

Tomb Raider Legends
Kind of. I mostly meant 'importable' as in region free (will work on US Xbox360s). All the current region free games (and even most that aren't) are in English (depends on what language your system is set to), Tomb Raider Legend should be no different. Got my Far Cry Instincts Predator through them yesterday (woohoo! Too bad everybody was right about how last-gen the graphics are, hehe).

Edit: Just noticed the site says its in English afterall.

I just checked the chart as well. Looks like it has been tested and confirmed to work in US/Canadian 360s.

Only $3 shipping as well.

Looks like they have most of the 360 games at this price as well. Not all have been tested, even though they are all in english.

Just to note, their $3.10 shipping from HK to Florida took about 8 days. Not bad really, took a package from California just as long to get here.

$20 price difference for 8 days? I think it is a fair trade off.

Not sure if I will give it a shot though as I resell everything through half.com(easier than ebay) and they remove any non R1 merchandise.
