just a quick question for those who are left handed, are there any games that I should avoid? my friend sold his ds because he said it was awkward to play with the stylus.

Any games that I've seen that have really detailed stylus controls have a Right-Hand/Left-Hand option.

So many people are planning on trading up for a DS-lite, or are most people convinced they are already happy? (I recognize some of us have already upgraded. :))

PixyJunket 04-28-06 09:48 AM

I WANT to upgrade.. but there's a sentimental value to my DS as it was a birthday present from my girlfriend who knew I really wanted a black one.

darkside 04-28-06 09:49 AM

I really like the Lite, but at the same time I don't really want to get rid of my current DS. The only issue I have is using it outside which the Lite solves. I may try and wait awhile. Someone at work is talking about selling their black import DS and I have been tempted to make an offer for it.

jeffdsmith 04-28-06 09:59 AM

I have a white JAP DS if you are interested :)

(And there is my answer to my question...)

Josh H 04-28-06 10:00 AM

I'm not plannig on upgrading. Would rather spend that $130 on games, dvds etc.

UncleGramps 04-28-06 11:11 AM

I'm planning to trade in my DS towards the purchase of a Lite as soon as they're available in the U.S. If the trade-in value is really shitty, I might just give the original DS to one of my nephews.

pinata242 04-28-06 11:12 AM

I can't imagine the trade-in value being very good once the new version hits.

I think I'll manage without upgrading for a while.

Yeah, unfortunately that's what I figured. But I don't want to trade it in now, before the Lite is released, and be DS-less in the interim. Think of the potential damage to my Brain Age!

Also, my wife hates it when I trade in old games and only get a few bucks for them, so she'll probably vote for giving it to our nephew. I know he'd get a lot of use out of it.

sdcrym 04-28-06 12:03 PM

According to my local GameStop, they'll give you $50 for a used DS.

Now.

But he wants to wait until the Lite is out, and they'll obviously drop the price they are paying then.

sdcrym 04-28-06 12:23 PM

$50 is a pretty crappy price now. I'm sure it dropped a bit when the Lite was announced. I'm going to try to sell mine to somebody I know when the Lite release approaches.

PixyJunket 04-28-06 01:11 PM

If they announce a black DS Lite at E3.. the temptation will be hard to resist, I'll admit. :D2:

Josh H 04-28-06 01:55 PM

Black would show finger prints to much with that damn shiny plastic. If I ever got one I'd probably go with white. They'll still show, but at least not quite as noticeable.

Some Tales of the Tempest scans. Damn furry characters. :(

My manager brought his in to work today, and after about ten minutes, I knew I had to get it. We're both crazy about it. It's an RTS with RPG elements, and it's really good! Ubisoft really did a great job at making an RTS work. And the spell casting is very responsive, much better than the sealing system in Castlevania.

Chris_D 04-28-06 11:44 PM

I'm definitely upgrading to a lite, but atm I just can't buy one.

UncleGramps 04-29-06 06:51 AM

I was listening to 1up.com's podcast yesterday afternoon, and there was something sort of interesting. Apparently, one of the editors mentioned the American DS Lite launch date because he thought that it had been publicly announced. Of course, it hasn't, so they bleeped the actual date, and mentioned something about how it would be breaking the embargo if they had revealed the date. However, they did say that Nintendo was announcing the U.S. launch date and price on May 4th (this coming Thursday). Maybe that's already been mentioned somewhere else, but it was news to me.

Michael Corvin 04-29-06 07:49 AM

Cool. Thanks Max. Looking forward to it.

PixyJunket 04-29-06 10:05 AM

It sounds like we'll only be getting the white DS Lite for the US launch.

boredsilly 04-30-06 03:51 PM

I'm finally going to get a DS, but I wish I could get the old clamshell system with the new uber bright sun flare screen. I have bigger hands and the current design feels pretty good. Maybe something will come out, a grip or something, that gives a little girth to the lite?

ETA: That is to say if I end up not liking how the lite feels in my hands. I guess I can't truly judge until I do that, huh?

pinata242 04-30-06 05:29 PM

Is the DS Lite intended to completely replace the original DS? If not, it may not be unthinkable to see them release and updated DS model with the new, brighter screens. I mean, the SP saw that when the Micro came out.

Tygan 04-30-06 06:48 PM

I wish they would have announced this two days ago...today was my wife's b-day and she got a DS...oh well, guess that means we'll have two once the Lite comes out.
