Okay, so I can't wait anymore and I'm importing a DS lite. Do I need to buy a power adaptor, or does Japan use the same voltage as America?
Edit: Or, do they just take the original DS power cables? Or do they use the micro power cables? Or do they use all new cables? Because I have spare DS and Micro cables I could use? Or is it that the unit itself requires a different voltage, in which case I would need to just buy some adaptor to plug onto the end of the provided cable? Somebody help! :D |
I think the japanese adapter will plug straight into a US wall socket. At least I've had the reverse experience using a US PS2 in Japan with no adapter at all.

Yes, there's a 10v difference but totally interchangable.
|
Great to know, because it shippped today! Yaaay!
|
You bastard. :D2:

I would love to pick it up, even though I normally hate football games. This one just looked awesome. To see the ad, go to this site: http://touch-ds.jp/mediagallery/index.html and click on the ad on the upper right. It also says "Max Devil Power" on it. Edit: No, wait, I did find it! Yaay! I ordered it. I don't care that I can't speak Japanese, the gameplay seems pretty intuitive. |

SHORT SYNOPSIS: Fun game. Based on a Japanese anime/manga. Game played entirely with the touchscreen. If you don't know Japanese the Football part of the game can be played, but there's a story mode and you'll be totally lost during those parts. Overall the GameSpot guys seemed to really like this game. |
Well, it was the football part that drew me in, so I can live without the story mode. And maybe someone will do a translation I can find online.

The Power adapter works fine in the US.Mine is actually grey, not black.
I just got a copy of Brain Training...WOW! This game, err, learning tool rocks! |
I went by Best Buy today and downloaded the Brain Training demo. My brain age is in it's 50's. My math skills are at car level. Now I don't want to turn off my DS to lose the demo. It is a really cool learning tool as previously stated.
|
I preordered Brain Age today just in case. It probably won't be a sell out risk, but considering how Nintendogs and Animal Crossing sold I'm not taking a chance.
|
I can never use a regular DS again. I played Brain Age in my DS Lite, then *tried* to play it in my old DS...and, well, I nearly threw the old DS out the window. Its like playing an Aplle IIE and then an Mac Mini.
|
Hell, I played the lite for 2 minutes and I don't want to touch my old one anymore. WhoGirl uses it to time travel on Animal Crossing currently.

I'm really looking forward to Brain Training. I might have to snake my way to Best Buy to check the demo.

Eyeshield 21 (the manga) is also available translated into English through Viz... found in any bookstore. It's actually a pretty fascinating read, as Football is not widely known in Japan, and so it "teaches" about football one aspect at a time. Because of this, I can only assume the game is only the most basic of football games... maybe with cool power moves and such, and not so much for the Madden fanatic. I eagerly await the first hand perspective on the game, though. If Fry's ever gets it in as an import, I might pick it up (I'm having a blast with Bleach DS and Jump Super Stars).
|
I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm going to wait for the North American release of the DS Lite so I can buy a warranty with it. What am I going to do if I buy one from Play-Asia now and it comes with a dead pixel?
|
I'm waiting for it to come out here just because it'll be cheaper when it's out domestically. My DS will certainly last me until then... as long as I don't play the DS Lite personally, I guess... :)
|
argh! All these raving impressions about the Lite have almost tipped me over the edge on importing one. And my birthday is coming up soon....maybe I should treat myself to something.....:). Hurry up with the announcement Nintendo! If its coming out in Fall i'll just import, but I have a feeling it'll be in mid-may to coincide with new mario bros (and E3).

Can you download these demos without heading to a store kiosk?
