Once you have a 2nd player sleeping upstairs you will occasionally see the spotlight items appear at Nook's...he'll let you know when you walk in that it's available and it will (at least sometimes) be posted on the message board by City Hall.

As far as I know, I don't think there's any Halloween related event in this version of AC. The Gamecube version had a ghost search event late at night and if you found all the ghosts he would give you a candy.
On another note, this week is the Acorn Festival and it will be the only time you can find acorns in your town and trade them with Tortimer for the 10 rare pieces of the Mushroom furniture series. You have all week to do this, so start gathering acorns, but don't give him the rotten ones you won't get a thing for those...

I've gotten 180 acorns, what happens at 230? Is that what it takes to get all the Mushroom furniture? Does Cornimer also give you the carpet and wallpaper?

Didn't see this anywhere:
From the December 2006 Nintendo Power:
"Shhhh. It's a secret.
Nov. 17-24, 2006
Listen carefully, NP faithful. To commemorate the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for Wii on Nov. 19, Nintendo will be giving away a very special, very rare gift in Animal Crossing: Wild World. Be sure to connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection during the week of Nov. 17th to Nov. 24th to receive a letter from Nintendo (which will show up in the mailbox near your home) and collect the attached item - you don't want to miss this one."
EDIT: If you want to know what it is look here: Master Sword If you want a hint as to what it is: I already had the item.

No. All the animals were hunted to death.
I will probably go back sooner or later but for now Hell is closed. Be sure to let us know if anything special happens.
You might want to try CAG, I think they are still pretty active. This game is a lot more fun playing with people.
On a side note I learned that your messages and stars patterns can go out to anybody. I didn't feel like curupting any kids so had to delete some stars some of you perverted bastards put in my sky.

I just started this game over a week ago. So far I've completed the tasks for Tom Nook and sold the cherries that were on the trees to gain some bells and created my own constellation. Other than that I'm not sure what to even do next.
It is a very cute game though.

basically, besides earning money to get a bigger house, you want to improve your friendships with your fellow town members, as well as working on getting your town "perfect"
In order to do that, you would be planting a TON of trees and flowers.
I would probably shy away from selling fruit until you've planted enough trees around your town.
and by planting trees, i mean about 20-40

Also, get yourself a shovel. Whenever you find an odd looking "X" in the ground, dig it up. It could be a fossil. There are also several types of fruits as well. If you can get on wifi, other members may be able to bring you different fruits which are worth more in your town.

I've basically played it every day since last Jan. All I need to do is get 2 more bugs (in the summer), get the golden watering can and have 999,999,999 bells in the bank. Tons of replay value in this game.

hey krblgc,
As you can probably tell, a lot of us aren't as active in Animal Crossing as we used to be. I'll add you, but I'm hardly playing the game. (I'm a little scared to see the amount of weeds in my town at this time)

I'm scared to visit my town too LOL. this game is awesome, I can't wait to see what the Wii version will be like. I'd recommend checking out the forums at animalcrossingcommunity.com, lots of active people playing the DS game still who will add you. And a very nice group of people. Not sure if thats the right website but check it out.
