Serious Sam + Doom = Painkiller (Xbox)

I'm somewhat surprised nothing has been mentioned about this game. I know it's the "oh, it's just another FPS" syndrome but this one seems to really stand out or in this case under the radar. It's got a mix of Serious Sam with Doom and the pace keeps it intense. By all accounts the design and looks makes it a pretty good looking game for the Xbox.

This falls perfectly into my "If the ratings are decent, I'll check it out when it hits $20" category.

Painkiller was a fast-paced shooter with some great level design and ememy design. Some of the bosses you just have to see to believe. There's one that's at least 200-300 feet tall.

I loved Painkiller on the PC. That said, I played the demo on the Xbox and wasn't impressed.

But alas, it isn't a bad game.

I have played the original PC version of Painkiller. I really liked it. It is the game that Doom 3 should have been. I love using the stake gun to nail zombies to walls. That never gets old. The bosses are simply amazing too.

I played the PC demo a long time ago. I wasn't impressed with the gameplay, but the physics were pretty fun.

I liked Painkiller a lot on PC but I would never touch it on Xbox.

I've played the first four levels of Painkiller on the PC and found it repetitive and boring. I am still willing to give it more of a chance, but I found it really boring. In the current realm of FPS's like Half Life 2 and Far Cry, I found this game really lacking in depth so far.

The game is a simplistic throwback to old school shooters, they aren't for everyone, but for those that would like to blow things very nicely without having to think about it too much should enjoy it.
