I just rented this last night for the 360. Overall, I thought it was ok. Not sure if I'll buy it though. The punching system is still a little odd at times. I found myself getting a bit bored with the game....the same stuff over and over. It was fun though to an extent, so I have to put more time in the game.

I think this game is great when playing with a friend, but to play it by yourself.......it's so so. Nothing beats knocking your friend silly and then talking trash while he tries to stumble up :)
|
Can you play the same boxer against himself, such as Pacquiao vs Pacquiao? I plan to pick this up later in the week, and a friend of mine want to use the same boxer. |
How is the soundtrack? FN2's soundtrack was 4 or 5 tracks that repeated over and over and over again. Are the ring entrances improved from the second one? I want my doves back!

i still dont see my boxer online (360 version) i have custom boxers turned to ON, but neither myself nor any opponent I've played has been able to select them. I hate EA and their weird online crap, do I have to do something special first. I remember with tiger woods you had to do something different to use your guy as well.

one thing that sucks about FN3
Me I suck - I just picked it up I never played the other ones - Tuff getting use to punching with the analog stick - got knocked out 5 times by some white Irish Dude and I was Roy Jones |

I started playing last night right before I posted and then I played till after 3AM. Kids woke me up at about 5 and I have been playing since. Mostly online and let me tell you, I suck bad. I have won one fight so far. It doesn't matter who I choose to be or who my competition is. If I punch a lot, I lose, if I select punches and move slow, I lose, if I use haymakers or don't use them, if I outjab or get outjabbed, I still always get my arse handed to me. I feel like I am getting better but I really thought I was better than I am. I played the career mode and got my first belt, then wone my next two pro fights with ease. Oh well, gotta keep at it. If anyone here sees me on xbox live (360 version) make sure you challenge me or message me or whatever, I am still not real familiar with the new xbox live dashboard and all that. As for the controls, the stick is the best way to go because you get total control and can make your punches as hard or soft/fast as you want. On the demo I got used to playing with control scheme 3, where your colored buttons are jabs and hooks, then I would use the stick for uppercuts and the right bumper for haymakers. I am now used to the default control scheme and like it better. This really is a challenging game though, I was beating the crap out of a couple of my opponents to the point where they look like they are gonna fall, then the announcer says they are, and then I start to unload on them and I get hit with a haymaker and they knock me down and turn the momentum. It is really a great game, especially against other people. The only complaint I have is that some people are so stupid. This guy was beating me like a drum and he kept pausing it to tell me to stop walking away and jabbing, to start fighting and calling me a biatch without the A in it. Normally I am ok with this as I would just throw some insults back and enjoy the trash talking and asswhoppin I was getting, but I didn't have the headset in and so it kept coming over the speakers and my kids were there watching and hearing him. The 4 year old asked why the game kept calling me bad names. I didn't like that, but it comes with online gaming. At least they didn't call me a racial name. :) Oh, and I fought someone earlier who had a custom player. He really beat me bad. :) Not sure how to do it as it took me a long time to figure out how to choose my fighter. |

Online I have only been able to play within the weight class. I did notice in the single player game it telling me to fight other weightclasses up and down to see the differences. I also notice that some fighters, like Jones Jr. and Holyfield arein multiple classes as they were in real life. |
Is it possible to knock a guy down without using a haymaker to stun him first
I'll tell u one thing the graphics on the 360 version are sick |

??? I heard they were pretty realistic! |
Actually it is possible, I knocked someone down twice, I was pacman, and I hit him with a right hook as he walked into it and he just like slipped down on the ground. That was the only fight I have seen it in though, the rest of them were all stunning then haymaker or combo.

If you guys are having problems beating people some things that I found that worked for me was to lean back and wait for the opponent to punch and he'll most likely miss and then hit him with a hard punch to the face. Also make sure you work on the stomach area, it will really make them get short winded and they won't block as much and then you can get a good haymacker on them.

Has anyone had Fight night 3 freeze up when going online?
|
I haven't had mine freeze up yet, knock on wood. I get online fine, though I have had a couple fights that had a bit of lag and studdering. I think that is probably from my crappy DSL line. Sometimes it sucks living in the middle of nowhere up in the mountains. I am just glad I get any broadband though. :)
Sekots, this is the method I use too. Isn't it the "Philly Shell" defense? It works well enough, really well in single player, but the people on live seem to always work it out better. I also try to sit there and jab constantly, move in and jab, move out, move in and jab, then hit a couple, then move out, when they move forward, jab them and move out. I just always seem to get the worst end of it. I was playing last night with some guys and we had fun. My wife even fought them a couple fights and we all had fun. She loved it, though she still pretends to not understand why it is so great. :) |
So I have a quick question about countering (I've never played the previous Fight Night games before). When countering, do you guys just try to guess where the punch is going to be thrown, and move the stick around? Or are the really good players able to see when the punch is being thrown where to counter? I guess it takes practice, but I can barely do it in the training mode, when they tell you what punch is coming... I mean, I get lucky every once in a while, but otherwise the computer seems much better at it (I'm still a little afraid to go online).

Something that I saw yesterday was that once you win the BK Invitational you get to have the big headed Burger King guy as your trainer and he's free to use. Does anyone know if there are anymore arenas to unlock besides the Staples Center, MSG, the small arena, The Warehouse, and the Windy City Gym. So far Madison Square Garden looks the best with the lights. One thing that bugs me is the crowd, it seems like there are a few animations for them, like there will be a whole group of people who will look behind themselves and other group is clapping, the others standing. But one cool thing is that they do react when you get a good combo going. |
Also make sure that you listen for the heavy breathing. When you hear it, pummel his body. He'll tire out and stop blocking. Then you can smash him in the face.
Fun game! I had trouble plying online last night unfortunately. I am about to play the Burger King Match. Wish me luck! :-) Sam |
Does anyone have it for the PS2 or xbox? Not the 360? Is there any difference anyways (well, except for the graphics)?

I am very curious to hear any thoughts on the psp version. There are a few reviews up on gamerankings.com but not from any site that I take to seriously. ( I am waiting for the IGN review.) |

I had a fight today where I was destroying this guy I had 10's in rounds 1, 2, and 3. In the 4th I tried alot of haymakers to the body and they would land but he would get great shots at my face when I did this, so I got this big cut on my face and the ref stopped the fight and he won even though I had more points after it was over. Man I was pissed at that non existent referee.
|
Just got this today, and was playing a couple hours with my friend. One fight he just kept messing around and threw a bunch of illegal blows. We started cracking up when the ref eventually stopped the fight.
If anyone wants to fight, my gamertag is eatntae. I don't think I'm very good though, so beware if you're looking for a challenge. |
Anyone find a way to invite people on your freinds list directly into a user created game?
