I just bought a Cube today and am glad I found this thread. If anyone has an extra set they'd be willing to part with for a reasonable price, let me know via email.

Yeah, I wish I had paid attention to this thread beforehand. Now that I might be picking up an HDTV this is kind of irritating, but I'm resourceful and am looking into getting a set from Japan for about $50-$60 (still a bit much, but what can you do?).

Yeah, it does, but I agree. I would probably not wait either and would buy the cables now if I didn't already have them. There are a lot of Cube titles in 480p and they actually look really good on a HDTV. Who wants to wait till November?

I'm tempted to sell mine since I'll be parting with my GC when the Wii comes out. People are paying over $100 on ebay for these babies.

It seems almost certain the Wii will use different cables so I can't sell mine since I'm keeping my Cube as well as getting a Wii, but cashing in is tempting.

The Wii will play Cube games, won't it? So, what's the purpose of keeping it around, unless you're not getting a Wii?

Good point ... figure you could sell just the Cube component cables and pay for ~ 1/4 of the Wii (assuming a $400 MSRP). ... and no, I am not being sarcastic.

I have owned every generation of Nintendo, except a Super Nintendo ... those years during college when I was broke, and I have never owned any other platform. ... there will have to be some great platform games to have me buy a Wii.

I still have mine for sale for $50 if any Talkers are still interested. A few of you sent e-mails but no one has bought them yet. I should just cash-in on eBay but I figured I'd give a fellow board member a good deal ($50 is what I payed for them, so thats what I'm charging)

Anyone can e-mail me if they want.

(Mods: I know this isn't exactly the right forum for sell/trade but it IS relevant to the thread )

It won't play GB and GBA games and I still use my GBA adaptor all the time. I just replaced my launch Cube last year with a really nice model I hunted everywhere for since I wanted one that supported the component cables and was still made in Japan instead of China. I'm not selling that baby as I will want a spare console to play Cube games and GBA games on the TV.

Where on earth did you find it for so cheap? I was about to lay down $70 for one of these things... I'd really appreciate it if you could fill me on in this information!

Has anyone tried one of these component cables for the GameCube?

http://cgi.ebay.com/XBOX-PS2-HDTV-CO...QQcmdZViewItem

For such a low price, I'm willing to risk it.

don't. only the nintendo ones will give you 480p, that's why they're so in demand.

Collectibility, and the fact that a used Cube won't get you much money nowadays. 50 bucks? Finding it in your closet a decade from now and getting nostalgic is worth more than 50 bucks.

You may not get much by cashing in your Cube or trading it in for that matter but if you have the component cables, I'd cash in on those while people are willing to spend $100 or more for them.

The reason they cost so much is because Nintendo is packing extra hardware into the cable itself, to save on the manufacturing costs for the GC. Thats what makes it so hard for third party companies to duplicate.

Anyway, I'm mainly posting this because just yesterday I was listening to some extremely uninformed Gamespot staff on their podcast .

But the cable is a $150 dollar value. They predict that they are going to sell 15,000 cables this month alone. We need to buy them all now!

Ha, me too. That's what convinced me to do a search on ebay.
