EA Ships Rugby 06

I'm looking forward to trying this one out. I used to play back in my high school days in Canada...played for 5 years, but it took the first 3 to actually know what the hell was going on!

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Thursday, February 16, 2006 – Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today EA SPORTS™ Rugby 06 has shipped to retailers and is now available in stores. Produced by EA Canada in Vancouver, B.C., EA SPORTS Rugby 06 throws you back into the scrum for the most realistic and intense rugby experience yet.

Whether competing in the Super 14, the Six Nations, or the Guinness Premiership championships, players can keep the match flowing with a new off-load passing system, quick line-outs and penalties, a host of new set plays, and more responsive gameplay. Enhanced stadium models, 3D field textures, and authentic atmosphere effects, such as visible player breath, furthers the sense of realism within the game. With more licensed teams than ever before, lead your squad to victory with key impact players whose inspirational moves and special abilities can mean the difference between a defeat and victory.

EA SPORTS Rugby 06 is available on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft. The game is rated "E" (Everyone) with descriptor: Mild Language by the ESRB with a MSRP of $29.99.The official game website is http://www.rugby06.com

I'll pick this one up for sure. But I really wish EA would release some of the Aussie football titles, like the NRL or the AFL.

I bought this for really cheap during a sale at Circuit City in 2006, played around with it a bit, then put it away. It seemed cool, but my ignorance of the rules of the sport hampered my enjoyment of the game.

I think maybe this weekend I'll don my new Scottish National Team shirt, immerse myself in the tutorial, and start playing it for real. Of course, I suck at video games for sports whose rules I know well, so it ain't going to be pretty.

An Aussie Rules Football game would be awesome. Back in the day, I came close to modding my PS1 just so I could import a copy of EA's game. Never did, though.

Wow. I read the thread title and thought, damn, what held this game up from release for two years? I assumed there would be some news story about it.

When it comes to video games, I'm always behind the times*.

*with the notable exception of "The Sims 2", which I bought on release day.

Yeah Mike I saw the title and thought the exact same thing

Although I was really confused when I seen the title, you gotta respect DJ for doing a search

And wouldn't they, like, at least rename it Rugby 09? I had similar thoughts.

The lack of a fantasy draft option killed it for me.
