80s Retro arcade compilations for PS2?

I just ordered the following games:

Taito Legends
Midway Arcade Treasures I
Namco Museum 50th Anniversary

These cover almost all my favorite games from the 80s, however, I am still looking for the following for PS2:

- Donkey Kong/D.K. Jr. (Nintendo) compilation
- Atari Arcade (Asteroids, Battlezone, Missle Command, Tempest, Centipede) compilation
- Punchout/Super Punchout compilation

Do they make these for PS2? I've seen an Atari compilation but only for DS.

No, for example it's supposed to have the arcade Asteroids, and Asteroids deluxe, as well as the 2600 Asteroids, AFAIK.

I've heard some of these games don't translate well to current consoles due to controllers not being made for that type of gaming... I'd be interested in hearing reviews from anyone on any of these, for any console.

Well games like Breakout probably don't translate well to the PS2 controller because that was a paddle game.

You're not going to find the Nintendo games (donkey kong, punchout) on the PS2 or any non-nintendo system.

I dont' think nintendo's put a compilation out either as they tend re-release their old games on the GBA as standalones.

I was afraid of that. That probably means no Punchout either - that was Ninetendo IIRC.

You should also pick up Capcom Classics Collection.
One of the best retro compilations.

It's a mix of arcade and console games, but it's got a LOT of good titles.

Checked it out. I don't really recall those games except for 1942 and Commando, and I wasn't really a fan of those.

You've never heard of the Street Fighter II games?

Those were probably the most popular arcade games of all time other than Pacman.

Final Fight was a huge hit as well, it's a side scrolling beat em up.

Most of the others are console games from the NES and SNES.

You can get Punch-Out in Animal Crossing, I think. I know it is a Gamecube game but does anyone know if it is the arcade game or the NES version.

Except for Punchout and one of the Karate games (Kung Fu Master?), I was never really into the fighting games.

All the games in Animal Crossing are NES games (except for Clu Clu Land D, which was a Disk System release).

I read that Nintendo with their upcoming Revolution system will have a builtin emulator so you can download nes, snes, and n64 roms onto your console for a small fee. I read this a while back so it may change before it's actually released.

A really good compilation for PS2 would be Capcom's MegaMan collection. It has all the Megaman's from the NES and SNES.
