Problem with my Dreamcast. Help!

My Dreamcast has been acting strangely lately. At certain places on two games (Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Skies of Arcadia) at that moment when a new section is loading, it will just freeze up and never load. The orange triangle just stays on, and I have to power off and start all over again. It does the same thing in the same place with those games, yet it didn't always do that. It's a recent thing.

At first I thought it was the discs even though there is absolutely zero markings of any kind on the disc, and I do take good care of my games. However, sometimes I can put a game in the player and it doesn't recognize there is a game there. It just keeps going back to the load-up screen where I can access the memory card and the time/date, etc. Typically, when it starts doing this, I have to leave it powered off for an entire day or more before it will start working again. This makes me think it might be something with the laser or maybe it's getting overheated for some reason.

Anybody ever experience anything like this who can help me out? What should I do? I've been thinking about selling all my Dreamcast stuff, but I don't want to sell it like this.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I know this is a long shot but have you had any problems with the system resetting itself during game play.

I'm wondering if you could be suffering from the heat issue in the system, where the circuits and connectors expand ever so slightly over time, causing bad connections.

Might not hurt to check. See this webpage for info:
