I finally scored one last night at Walmart. There are four 24 hour Walmarts within about a ten mile radius of me, so I decided to go to the one that I thought would be the least crowded. I got there around 11:55 pm, and the store had a number system in place. I was #7 of 7 for the premium system. All told, they had seven premiums and eight cores. I was out the door 15 minutes later. No one showed up after me and all of the cores were still there by the time I left.

I originally set my alarm for 6:00 AM this morning...but after surfing the net and checking my loal Wal Mart's hours of operation for today (Open at 11:00 AM) I decided to just shut off my alarm, as I wasn't feeling like having to wait in a line on New Years day (hungover!).

Happened to wake up at 7:10 AM and the XBOX 360 immediately came to mind. Hopped in my truck - and headed out for my local Wal Mart (Victorville, CA), which is just over a mile from my house.

Got there, lots of cars in the parking lot - thought I was screwed as I realized they were already open. Saw lots of guys walking out as I walked in but NONE of them had anything, and one was on his cell phone shaking his head. (Not sure if it was xbox related or not though).

I almost turned around and went back home - but ventured to a completely empty electronics department. Walked over to the Xbox locked diplay and immediately saw 3-4 Premiums and 2-3 core systems in the case!!!! At that time, 2 employees came by and they were both talking about the 360 and one of them said, so we aren't supposed to sell these (pointing to the ones in the case)? The other employee said, no - we can sell those now.

So, as it turns out, the first employee was basically telling people that they couldn't buy them this morning (from what I gather anyway?).

I grabbed the premium 360 - and purchased it right there in the electronics dept. Walking out in less than 5 minutes with one (finally!).

I was thinking the same thing. I'm not sure what I could say to convince my wife to ring in the new year at the local Wal-mart. :)

I'm actually getting very close to the same thing myself. I can't believe i'm playing this hunting game and busting my ass for the privilege of forking over 500-600$.

The EB's near me still haven't filled all their pre-orders and don't expect to have any units for non-preordered customers until late march or early april. Bloody ridiculous.

Local 24 hr superstore sold there stock on accident as they had a flyer up, elec mgr told me to come back at 12 and they were isuing rainchecks for the systems. I had mine since launch and as trying to hook up a buddy and his nephew, so since I'm laid up from knee surgery and couldn't go outta town and party any(still on crutches and painkillers) me and his nephew went about 12:30 with his GF there to get the rainchecks. Had only been one other person cme by so I got my buddy signed up and his nephew got his they will call when next shipment comes in, gotta at least give thema pat on the back for doing that.

but seriously, funeral stuff is expensive and if people can save money by getting caskets through Costco more power to them (if they truly are alot less through Costco that would probably be great for people who were on fixed incomes and didn't have much life insurance).

After striking out at Wal-Mart last night, I was beginning to lose hope that I would find an xbox any time soon. Today, my luck changed for the better. While calling around to see when stores were expecting a new shipment, I found out that the other Wal-Mart in town either didn't get in their shipment or just didn't start selling it until 7:00 AM this morning. I was able to get the last premium system they had at around 1:00. I also picked up PGR 3.

Now I just need to go back and read up on all of the other 360 threads.

Thanks...and dammit! The BB down the street from me is supposed to have 26 Premiums...now I might have to go into work late...

I finally have one thanks to Y2K. We met at an outlet mall; he had to "twist" his wife's arm into letting them go down there. I had a white envelope and he had a non-descript brown box. The exchange was made and all were happy. :)

We still had 2 hours of driving before getting home, so I had the luxury of staring at that wonderful, white box. I hooked it right up once we got home. I had just enough time before I got sick though. I spent most of the night throwing up. :( My wife did get to play Kameo though. Hopefully I'll get to play with it more today.

Well, we're supposed to get a pretty bad storm tomorrow and my vacation ends so I probably won't be able to make it to Best Buy for their shipment that's supposed to come in for tomorrow. I might hit up Target and Walmart just to see if they have any that for some reason didn't sell yesterday but other than that I'm fresh out of ideas.

I was just talking to a co-worker and her Boyfriend who was buying a 360 game and they started bragging about how the BF and his 2 brothers scored 3 units around the release time. I thought, “Ok, that’s cool. Hey, if they stood in line to get them then more power too 'em.” But then they started bragging about how they sold one for $800 and he offered me a "great deal" on one for $600. Yeah right. For $600 not only would I want the 360, I would also like to fuck his pretty girlfriend(my co-worker) otherwise NO DEAL! :lol:.

But seriously, throughout the whole conversation I was thinking how there's a fine line between Capitalism, The Entrepreneurial spirit, and just plain fuckin’ GREED. :lol:

I know what you mean. I get really annoyed when I see people (seems like the FW thread is full of them) saying "I just scored 4 units..ebay here i come". I could understand selling one or maybe even 2 but come on, 4 units that's what we in the know call being a dick.

This is what I find funny about all those people who are Ebaying.

So, if you sell your 360 on Ebay, and it sells for $500, you only make ~$40. Is all that work really worth it for $40? When they were going for 3 times the price, I would have easily said yes, but for only $40?

I just wish i could find something other than a core pack. One place near me has a couple cores but nobody is able to keep the premiums in stock for more than a minute or two.

Yeah, I believe they are. At least the ones last Sturday night at Wal-Mart had them still.

Yep, there was a remote. There is a little cosmetic damage on the HD, but nothing that would bother me. Everything is working fine and dandy.

The premium system that I got at Walmart yesterday did not have the remote.

Well just got back from Target (where I had to pick up some other things) and they didn't have any (and they still had quite a few hard drives which makes me further think that this area hasn't seen many units come in, core or premium since I bet those hard drives would be gone if we had seen a bunch of cores come by). Went to Walmart across the street (which was the Walmart that I swung by second yesterday) and I didn't see any and of course the places was mobbed so I couldn't even find someone to ask.
Looks like I'll be waiting a little longer, which isn't a bad thing since I'll have some more money from selling my Gamecube stuff shortly.

The Premium I managed to snag at Best Buy on 12/30 did not have the remote :(

The premium system I got at Walmart on the 1st did have a remote. There was also a sticker on the front of the box advertising the free remote.

My search is over! Walked in to Target today and they had two Premiums left! I got my 360 the same day I sold my original Xbox. I also recieved a PSP and GTA:LCS for Christmas which I returned. That with the Xbox money was more than enough to pay for this new system.

I would have kept more of my original Xbox games if the system had better backward capability. I didn't buy a game because I have some gift cards to Best Buy I want to use first. I'll probably just get one game for now, not sure which one I'll get. I was thinking Condemned, though there are a few 360 games on sale for $40 with the $10 off coupon. Right now I’m stuck with Halo 2 and NFS:U2 (which was on the list but I can't get it to work).

Congrats. I played the condemed demo (are you on Live?) and it was good, but from what I have heard, short. I would recommend COD2 for a shooter.

It kind of sucks though because everything I have is black and now I have huge white eye sore. Oh well!

Yeah, I downloaded the demo. I liked it but I think I'll stick with COD2 and rent it to play through the rest of the game if it's really short. At least I got to play a next-generation game tonight!

Yeah the condemned demo is cool, but I think it's a rental cause the game is supposedly very short. The Arcade games are a blast and I think they all have free trials so you should check those out. I'm currently addicted to Geometry Wars.

BTW I got mine at Kmart on Thursday the 22nd they only got 2 premiums and thanks to knowing the right people I got one.

Got mine today as well. I wasn't planning on taking the day off, but at around 4am I woke up with some really bad stomache pains. I didn't really get back to sleep and between not feeling very good and there being a Nor'Easter going on, I called in sick. Woke up later feeling better and the roads didn't look too bad so I decided to head to Best Buy in Newington, CT. Got there just a few minutes after ten and grabbed Wedding Crashers and looked for someone to ask about XBoxes. Another guy was asking someone so I walked over and said I was looking too. He said they just got some off the truck and grabbed who I assume was the manager. He said he had 1 premium and since the other guy asked first, I said that he should get it. He said he had a core left and I wasn't sure if I wanted it. The manager went to go grab the system and once I found him I'd decided to take the core. Low and behold he had 2 premiums so I didn't have to settle for the core. He pushed the extended warranty (and the cashier rang it up without even mentioning it but I caught it and told him to take it off) but atleast I finally have one. I heard some employees rumbling once they saw they had them but the manager was very decisive (it sounded like some employees wanted to buy them and he said no, and to also not put them on the floor).
So with that, I bid farewell to this thread.
Edit-No remote with mine but unless someone could figure out a way to make the media sharing work with OS X I wouldn't use it anyway.

No go today @ Bestbuy South Austin,Tx. I just called the Best buy in San Marcos, and they had some, but I'm not gonna make that run today.

Yes I did get mine, the inlaws came through. (With a premium, which did come with the remote, none the less). Also got a HDTV all hooked with it. Man was everything finally worth it. Playing Project Gotham 3 looks amazing. We should get some DVDTalk races going on Live.

Picked up my preorder on 1/1 at the local EB games. Premium system and had a remote. Manufacture date was 12/12. The cashier rang me up, came around the corner, handed the system to me and said, "Be careful walking through the mall with this. I double bagged it for you." That freaked me out a bit although i was glad it was bagged and covered up. I probably would have been fine and not looked over my shoulder had he not said something. Anyway, nobody followed me and I had my girlfriend there to protect me.

I had the same concern. You might want to take a look at this faceplate skin kit on Ebay. I just bought one so I'm waiting to get it and I'll let you know how it works out. Basically it seems to be a decal set and black is only available for the faceplate and not the whole unit for some reason, but that should be fine for me. I was looking for a physical faceplate replacement kit, but I can't seem to find one that doesn't have stupid designs or weird colors.
