I guess that makes sense. I figured it was the opposite though. Alot of places don't take American Express, and I use it all the time for gas, bills, groceries, etc. I pay it off at the end of the month, so it works great. Plus, it's a Gold Rewards card, so that helps.

We got a memo saying that All stores will be receiving shipments of the XBOX 360 this week. There is no definite day which we'll get them, but they said that the day we receive it, we can not sell them. They will save them for the next morning and that is when they will be for sale. The manager is suppose to stand outside and hand out tickets to those that want to purchase one. So call in everyday. My store gets shipments at approximately 12 in the afternoon.

I was just at Best Buy and heard one employee telling another basically the same thing about that retailer newsletter they have (or whatever it's called). He said "we're trying to keep it quiet, but you know how the internet is". Since I was standing right there and practically part of the conversation, I laughed and said "man, I got $10 that says when I get home, the newsletter will be posted on the internet. And another $10 that says by tomorrow, each stores allocation will be up as well". He laughed and agreed. He was not sure of the day they are coming in, but for sure this week, and they will be sold the day AFTER they get the shipment in.

That free XM Airware is a nice little bonus for employees!

Anyway, assuming those policies for the 360 are followed, that is definitely an improvement.
No employee sales, printed tickets, no holds, etc.

John Sinnott 12-20-05 06:16 PM

My 360 finally arrived tonight!

I still wish I had ordered some place besides GameStop.com, but I'm happy the ordeal is over.

gmal2003 12-20-05 07:14 PM

I know its all over the net but lets not talk about this to other websites.

Li 12-20-05 08:57 PM

So are there normally lines every morning at Best Buys since the Xbox launch? Considering what I've done so far, showing up at open seems reasonable enough.

devynal 12-20-05 09:12 PM

Check your local Kmarts this week. 360s will be trickling in. Not sure which version, though.

edstein 12-20-05 09:51 PM

It's official, Cooter at my Walmart said the Xbox 360 has been recalled. He said it was something that happened out in California.

Dude, if Cooter said that it's gotta be true! -eek-

I was in WalMart earlier tonight at around 11:30 or so, and over the sound system they announced that they just got two, yes two and only two, 360's in stock and it was a first come first serve deal. My initial reaction was to instantly start to dart back to the electronics department...but then I remembered how expensive it would be, and that I didn't have the money for that at all right now.

It was still cool to actually hear that they had it in stock. I'm sure they were grabbed almost instantly though. I was up near the front of the store, and the second they said that, a woman who looked like she was in her 40's or so started wildly asking where exactly she needed to go to pick one of these up.

Mok 12-21-05 05:52 AM

Walmart.com has them in stock right now, I finally broke down and ordered one won't have it by x-mas but the hunt is finally over.

gmal2003 12-21-05 07:50 AM

Anyone try out BB this morning? Im really hoping they sell them Friday as that will be the day I can get one.

Same here. I'm at work every other morning.

Li 12-21-05 08:03 AM

I tried this morning. No dice. I wish Best Buy was closer than 20 miles away, but what are you going to do? The kid at the door told us they'd put a sign on the door a week before they get more so there could be another camp out. I just rolled my eyes and continued on my way.

I grabbed King Kong for $20 while I was there for a friend for Christmas though, so it wasn't a total waste. Gotta love those $10 coupons.

gmal2003 12-21-05 08:15 AM

GO GO GO . CC.com has them up. I just got one.

gmal2003 12-21-05 08:34 AM

Still up. You can remove any item in the bundle except the controller IIRC. I was so nervous it would sell out I bought everything but the only thing I dont need is the memory card. Can I take that back to Circuit City? If not Ill sell it to Gamestop et al.

I got:
• Xbox 360 Premium System
• Additional wireless controller
• 64MB memory unit
• Project Gotham Racing® 3

For $539. Plus faster shipping ($28) and tax ($34) and it came to $602.80.

ETA: 12/22 - 12/27

I wish I would have cancelled the memory car ($40) and then paid for fastest shipping ($48) and I would have it tomorrow. Oh well :).

RichC2 12-21-05 08:36 AM

The mix of Tax and Shipping turned me off, I want a system, I just don't want to pay so much. Does that make me greedy? $55 in shipping and taxes. yeesh. Only $20 more than it would be here though...

gmal2003 12-21-05 08:51 AM

BTW, they have Free shipping too but it might not get there til 1/07/06. I just didnt wanna wait that long. So go now and it can be had for the same price as one at the store (with more waiting though).

Call them, and I bet you can change your order. It should be allowed. Doesn't hurt to try.
