Wow, CC.com had the bundles in stock and while I was doing a quick search to see if you could return the items you didn't want, they sold out. It was literally a matter of a minute or so.

I can't find that thread either. On a side note, why would Best Buy not put them on the floor? Seems like if anything it would discourage spontaneous sales of the thing.

The only reason I can think of not placing new product on the floor is to avoid a mad rush to the area and have consumers fighting each other over who got there first, etc. That said, the stores are still pretty busy and as soon as people go back to work, (after Jan 1) I think it will be safer to place new product on the floor as soon as they get it.

On a different note, I still haven't gotten my preorder from EB Games. :(

Cardiff Giant11 12-30-05 11:21 AM

Well just got back from one of the two Best Buys that I'm about equidistant from since I had to go to the post office anyway. Asked if they had any and they did not. I think I'm going to wait until I get my Gamecube stuff sold before I resume the hunt. Maybe by then there will be a good chance of being able to just walk in and buy one.
I swear this is like Soviet Russia with people having to wait in line and go from place to place to find bread ;)
hippochris, that makes sense but it makes you wonder if there are people who don't bother asking if they have any if they don't see them (as I neglected to do at a few places because I couldn't find an employee who was free).

AndyCleveland 12-30-05 11:34 AM

i was going to buy one but now that i cant find them anywhere for over a month, im waiting until revoultion.

hippochris 12-30-05 02:14 PM

Well i just got the call and my 360 preorder is in. Of course this is the worst day for me as I'm going away for the weekend straight after work and can't stop at the mall to pick it up. Even worse, they say I have until close of business SUNDAY or they will give my unit to the next person on line. WTF? I think the mall closes at 7 on Sunday so I'll have about 4-5 hours to pick it up or I guess I'm screwed. That means I can't get super wasted on New Year's Eve and sleep till 5. This will be a challenge.

Sonny Corinthos 12-30-05 02:30 PM

Wal-mart has 360s on the cover of their January sales paper that breaks on Sunday. They will go on sale at 12:01 am Sunday morning. You guys wanting one might want to check it out.

matome 12-30-05 03:47 PM

Happened to be in the Yonkers Best Buy browsing around, when I heard someone yelling something out by the registers. Turns out, they just got 15 360's in and had them out on a table with 4-5 employees manning it and were basically saying that they were the only store in NY to have them now. He aslo was yelling that they wouldn't be getting any more till May or June, if you could believe that. $399 for the system with the hard drive, wireless controller, headset etc. Went up front and there were like 10 people up there, half on cell phones (I guess trying to get permission :)). I walked up said I wanted one, a blue shirt picked up the 360 and I grabbed Perfect Dark Zero, COD2 and a wired controller they had set up at the table as well and then he walked me directly to the customer service line where I paid $600 for the whole shebang . Finally I get lucky for once in my life!

Sounds like it's worth a shot. I wonder if this'll get around much before Saturday night and if the demand has died enough that very many will care.

Do you know the source of this info? Our Walmart is not a 24-hour store.. I didn't think any of them were. And when I was there today, they said nothing about being open at midnight tomorrow.

I'd certainly take a shot at it, but I'd like to see more info on this if anyone has it.

The Walmart right down the street from me is open 24 hours. In fact, I thought most were.

Huh. The two near me both open at 7 am. Maybe they close late, though. I'll check I suppose.

But I still would like to see if we can track down the source of the 12:00 a.m. sale. Like you said, the fewer people who know, the better. But I'd like to at least be one of the people who knows myself. :-)

I have a lot of friends at my local Wal-Mart. They showed my a copy of the salespaper and I seen it with my own eyes. My Wal-Mart is a 24 hour one. If yours is not, be there first thing when they open Sunday morning. Check out the link for yourself.

Wal-Mart ad

Frank_M 12-30-05 06:29 PM

Thanks. I did find the link online. And I called my local store and they said the same thing... store opens at 7 a.m.

The didn't guarantee that they'd be in stock, but I believe that the woman I spoke with all but did so.

Only question is... I wonder how many per store?

kms_md 12-30-05 08:40 PM

my local walmart posted a note in the game section saying that they would be on sale january 1st, one per customer, and that each store received at least 12 systems.

I didn't think that the Wal-Mart's in columbus were 24 hours?

nickdawgy 12-30-05 10:23 PM

I got $660 for my bundle, plus the two games. Not bad. I hope it's easier to find one in March then it was this month.

Brewc 12-30-05 10:24 PM

So right at New years tomorrow night they go on sale? my buddies nephew wants one bad so I'll have to tell him

deadlax 12-31-05 09:53 AM

Somebody walked out of the Best Buy at Northlake in Atlanta with a Premium today. None on display though, and I am not in the market for one.

Cardiff Giant11 12-31-05 10:20 AM

Called the other Best Buy near me and literally all I got out of my mouth was "Hi I was wondering if you guys had any XBo" and the girl says "No we don't". Guess they must get that question often ;)
Edit-Just called the other one to see if they had gotten any in since yesterday (since people on FW were saying some apparently did) and nothing there either.
If I wake up relatively early tomorrow I might try Walmart but my guess is even if I get there at like 9 or so they'll be cleaned out.

PalmerJoss 12-31-05 12:29 PM

I went to my local Best Buy in Nashua NH today intending to buy Prince of Persia for the Xbox. I got there shortly a few minutes after 10am and immediatly noticed the crowd outside. I parked in the parking garage and was able to get into the store without any trouble. I was in the Xbox section when an associate came over to me and asked if I was looking for the Xbox 360's. I said No, but that I'd be interested in buying one if they had them in stock. He sent me up to the front desk where I got the last remaining system that they had. In and out in 10 minutes with a brand new Xbox 360.

If anyone lives in the Southern NH/Northern MA area the WalMart in Hudson NH is getting a bunch of the systems in tomorrow morning. There were signs all over the place when I was there last night. They open at 7, so get there early.

Cardiff Giant11 12-31-05 07:06 PM

Well I think I'm going to try Walmart tomorrow. I *think* my local store opens at 7am and since it's snowing right now and the roads aren't plowed well at all, I'm just going to head over to a friend's place for New Years Eve so with any luck I'll be able to actually roll out of bed early enough to make a go of this.
Edit-Just realized there's another Walmart very close by me. If I strike out at one I'll try the other one.

Detective Thorn 12-31-05 11:28 PM

Well, I just struck out. I wasn't willing to ring in the new year at Wal-Mart so I left my house right after midnight. The store was completely dead, but not dead enough. I arrived at the electronics counter just as they were selling the last one. Apparently they only had FOUR to begin with. (2 core/2 premium).

I can't believe they held the systems for sale at midnight when they only had four to begin with. What does that accomplish?

Leechboy 01-01-06 12:49 AM

While picking up DOA4 today the clerk at Best Buy informed me that they had at least 15+ systems in stock.
