Question About Using Expansion Packs...

I've always been a little fuzzy on the installation of expansions included with "Gold", "GoTY" or "Treasure" collections. Specifically, I just bought Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 : Gold at BB for $19.99 a/c (smokin' deal, BTW). It includes RCT 3 and the expansion Soaked. I know that the expansion has additional features that expand gameplay on the original game. My question is this : Should you install the expansion pack right away? Can you still play the main game after the expansion is loaded on? I never really understood how that worked with The Sims expansions either. If you install both but start up with the original game icon, are the improvements incorporated? Any guidance would be appreciated.

It really depends on the game.

Some expansions will have their own start up file and others will incorporate things into the original.

I'm not familiar with RCT from experience so I couldn't say.

Soaked is basically a whole new experience, letting you build water parks. You can still play all of RCT3 and the scenarios... loading Soaked won't change any of that.

Thanks for the info.
So the best thing to do is to load both right off the bat, then play RCT 3 first?
