Numbered in case of long lines. I'm hoping to get one at midnight and avoid the all night campout.

1. Popular Wally World at 4:30 p.m.
2. Ghetto Wally World at 5 p.m.
3. Podunk Wally World at 5:30 p.m.

Sleep for 6-7 hours.

4. Best Buy at 2 a.m.
If more than 36 in line at Best Buy:

5. Circuit City across the street at 2:15 a.m.
If more than 15 in line at Circuit City:

6. Target at 2:30 a.m.

My boss FINALLY approved my time off for tomorrow. I'll probably get there around 8ish tonight. I have no problem waiting all night. Just heard it's probably going to rain here tonight. Should be interesting.

I'm not going to BB for the system. I'm hitting up other likely candidates where it is less likely to be crowded. 2 hours, tops. I do however have to swing by there to get my games.

No idea so far...I just hit Walmart and both of the ones near me are only getting 4 premiums with people already in line. I figure I may drive by Best Buy and Target and Sams and Costco...I still wonder why I am doing all this since I don't even know that I want a system

Two (so far unsubstantiated) rumors about launches at BB and Walmart:

Apparently some BBs may require a bundle purchase. I've never seen BB do this in the past, so I'm a little skeptical, but bring extra cash.

Walmart seems to be going with a random drawing kind of thing instead of first come-first serve. Again, I'd double check, but no point going in hours early just to find out the drawing is random anyway.

I've seen nothing about a bundle requirement at BB. Not in their ads, not in their in-store promotional stuff. I think we can shut that rumor down right now.

But, but, there was a guy who posted in a message board that he talked to his manager, and, and... ok, so the source is dubious at best. But seeing the attitude of some BB managers in the BB Bucks thread over in DVD deals, I can see it happening at some. More than likely, though, they'll just have incentives like double Rewardzone points if you push your purchase over 600 and coupons with slight discounts on accessories.

I'll confirm what fuji said. A few quick calls and it does seem Wal-Mart is doing a raffle, not first come first serve.

Some Wal-marts are doing a raffle system, but mine is doing first come first serve. One about twenty minutes from my house is announcing at 10:00 where you need to go to get a ticket first two people to get there get the premium systems the other eight get shafted with the core systems, that should be interesting.

for anyone who is camping out for hours and hours - how pissed are you going to be if you get a defective unit?

So I was out for lunch and I stopped by Best Buy to look around, and there were close to 100(!) people in line for the 360.

Now my question isn't why so many want a 360 so bad, but how the hell they could afford one, seeing as how they don't have jobs - or if they did, I doubt they'd have lucrative type positions, since they were all in their early 20s with clothes from Hot Topic and alternative facial hair - they may as well been in line for a Korn or Limp Bizkit show...

Sounds like the joke is on them since it is very doubtful any Best Buy will be getting 100 units.

yea some of you waiting till midnight might want to rethink your gameplan. i've already been turned down at 3 stores since they have ebnough people in line to fill their allotment. Wal-mart even said they were full LAST night by 10pm. i'm heading down to best buy now where i guess there are only 10 so far, and hopefully it doesnt get to bad.

It's a BB with one of the biggest 360 allocations, and I'm sure a lot of the people in line are just friends of people buying it.

My best buy only got 44 of the core systems and 14 of the regular systems. (or vice versa....44 of the premium systems..I don't know what they're called)

They made bundles to reserve one. It was like $780 to reserve one of the core systems and $680 for one of the regular systems. On top of that, they made them pay in full.

im sure lots of 20-somethings with no income have at least $600 credit to blow. They'll be paying the minimum on that for the next few years too. Somehow this just doesnt register as 'bad' in the minds of most people lol.

Well , getting to work at 9pm to help setup and starting to camp out at around midnight. We are expecting at least 20 at midnight... but thanks to the rain tonight ... I think it will just be co-workers!

these stores should make it clear which of those in line which will be getting them so that there aren't a mob of people waiting for hours on end before they tell them there were only 20 to begin with.

I went to one Walmart who was first come first serve and had 4 people in line at 8:30 this morning. They are only getting 2 premiums. I went to another Walmart and same thing. The third one I stopped at is doing a lottery but at the same time it was funny to listen to the manager make fun of the customers and ridicule them behind their backs. One employee was trying to make suggestions on how to handle the customers and trying to keep them somewhat entertained so they didn't have problems, but the manager said screw them. Needless to say I won't be shopping there.

I stopped at both Costco and Sam's only to find more unhelpfull people. Costco tried but knew nothing, not even how many they had in. At Sam's Club I had to tell the 20 something guy behind the counter what it was, and even then he had a dumb look on his face. I still don't know if they are even getting any.

I stopped at two Circuit City's and they both refused to tell me how many they had in. Doesn't make sense in a business stand point to me, but they had no response when I asked what they were going to do when you had several pissed off customers who waited and didn't get one since they wouldn't let anyone know if it was worth waiting in line.

Looks like I will be driving around and checking the Best Buys, Target and Sams Club in the morning.

I'm sitting in line right now. Gues I'm stuck. This bb doesn't open until 9am and there are already aboput 15 people here. They have 34 systems, so I think the people waiting till 8pm or so are going to be sorely disapointed. I had to go to 4 stores to even find a line that wasn't at capacity.

Ps its hot as hell and I dressed warm for the night.

Where are you located? In fact, it'd be helpful for everyone to list where they are...

I'm in the LA area, and I'm right next to a Fry's, a Best Buy, a TRU, and a costco... I'll drive by just to see what's going on.
