I think I'm done honestly. The other day when I got that 61K score I had the strangest run of luck. I beat the first level and then died on level 2. I beat the first level again (where it's impossible to score other than 600) and saved the state. I then died on level 2. Reloaded. Died. Repeat. Somehow it took me 18 tries to beat level 2 without losing a man. I counted. And cried. And then finished the game with that high score.

18, I believe, but don't be fooled by the green grid, that's just the game's intro due to a late snapshot.

Good show, and here I was thinking I was in the clear. I might have another go at it. I only got 80% on the 3rd stage boss, thus being robbed of an easy 50,000, and got a little too nonchalant (read: cocky) once I thought the score was out of reach.

The 3rd boss is the only one I haven't been able to 100% on. I was trying different weapons except for the laser (which I don't think you can carry that far). 90% was my best.

That's what I thought. Are 15, 16 and 17 easy levels? I'm thinking about doing saves states just to see past 14, but it seems like a lot of work :)

It's kind of a pain in the ass to keep coming back having to update the thread, but at the same time it's pretty damn cool that we have this good of a competition going on the 50th thread. Thanks for showing up Ustimias :D

I think after my high score gets tripled I tend to stop caring.

I can't beat that Metrocross score I don't think.

Have you noticed problems with the score board Ustimias? The first time I got 114k the first time I entered my high score fine. When I came back to the game I scored a 90k which showed as the high score on the score board the and the 114K was listed as 14K on the scoreboard and #2, although the #3 score was something like 85K. The 114K showed as my highscore at the top of the game though. When I got that 143K the scoreboard which contained only my high scores by that point now only showed the 143K and whatever my last score below 100K was and then 3 default scores. I wonder if it's a problem with the MAME emulation or if the actual ROM wasn't properly tested with scores over 100K.

1945 and Poko aren't emulated. You guys wanna pick some games that are listed in MAME, or point me to where I went wrong?

I don't really use save states and usually just reset when I die, so haven't noticed.

I've come to realize that Metrocross is a really crappy game. The points decrease significantly after the first round which is pretty stupid. My top score through 4 levels was 79K, which resulted in 143K after completing 6 more levels... the last of which I went for points and added 25K to my score. Ustimias should have blown me out getting to level 14... instead it was somewhat close.
