Soul Calibur 3 Reviews and Discussion

Review up at 1up.com, Che from EGM (their resident fight game fanatic) gave it a 9.0.

Looking forward to it, looks to have a lot more replay in the single player mode that the prior games.

It got a 5/5 from OPS, for what that's worth. I've played the demo and really like the create-your-own fighter feature. Still, I almost never play fighters and have other games I'd rather get. When it drops, though, I'll be all over this one.

BTW : Is Tekken 5 cheap yet?

Looks really nice! I've seen some really neat things with the create a player mode. I have too much to play right now, but thanks to TRU I think I will be picking this up next week (that's when it comes out right?).

For those of you with a Fry's nearby, they'll be blowing 'em out at $37.99 on Thursday.

I wish this was for the xbox also, but everything I have seen shows PS2 only. As much as I played SC2 I don't see 3 being worth picking up a ps2 for especially with the xbox 360 the end of November

the review I read in OPM recently, mentioned that the character models weren't that great this time around. I know that probably doesn't mean much to most people, but I was a little bummed out. probably will pick this up, as part of the Buy 2 get 1 free promotion at TRU this week.

I'm very sad to see this thread. I didn't realize there was a SC3 in the works. And now, to see one, to see that it's only for the PS2, and to see the very poor graphics (based on the screenshots at the link above), I'm heartbroken.

So I guess it's okay to trade in my copy of Soul Calibur II, right? Because certainly this game must make it obsolete.

I can't seem to get that review to load. It keeps crashing halfway.

Why didn't they make this for the X-Box?

Sad, sad, sad.

No X-Box? No sale.

No Cube version either. I guess Namco didn't want to pay Nintendo to license Link again. And the Cube version of Soul Calibur II was the best selling one. :-(

I played for a few hours last night, unlocking most of the locked characters my first time through with Astaroth. The graphics are quite good -- the game supports progressive mode and 16:9 -- if not on par with SC2 on the Xbox in 720p mode. I would say the graphics are comparable to the GameCube version of SC2 when the game is played in progressive mode. The intro movie looks great, and the one-player game looks to have more variety. For example, sometimes during cut-scenes you have to quickly hit a random button on the controller to avoid an obstacle a la Resident Evil 4 (you can't just sit back and relax while the characters are trash talking each other!). I can't wait to have a friend over so I can try out the Vs. mode.

I'm addicted to this game. The custom fighter feature is probably one of the coolest things ever. I've been making a bunch of Star Wars characters because I'm a nerd.

I've been playing this for sometime now and Im having a blast. With Calibur 2 I was dedicating a month to a single character at a time to round out my roster and I didnt get very far with that because a lot of my friends lost interest. Im hoping this time the game will keep them hooked, and it appears creating a character is keeping them focused this time around. This month is Ivy month
