So, wait, because China thinks Pandas are cute and cuddly Blizzard is not going to put Panderans as a playable race?

Personally I would rather play as Panderans rather than the Draenai just because of the Asian influence on the Panderans.

Well it is more about their respect of the Panda than that they think they are cute and cuddly. I am guessing they didn't want to see Panda's getting killed in PVP and what not. Hopefully it isn't true.

That pretty much sums it up. Since Blizzard wouldn't want China to ban the game there because of China having the largest potential gaming market..

I dunno if that above rumor is true, but China does have that kind of power over the market.

It should be pointed out that the Outlands is not a new zone. It's an entire new continent.

Sounds like a good expansion from what they've released so far. I haven't played since July, but I'm sure I'll be back for this.

Fandango 10-29-05 08:32 PM

If that is indeed the case there is no question Blizzard would be wary of the concerns of the Chinese, look at these figures here:

So does this mean we are looking at the Draenai as the new race for the Alliance? Does that make any sense?

Perhaps, if the servers don't crash for good

Took down the first three bosses in Blackwing Lair last night and I have to say these boss battles are exactly what I was looking for when I spent all those tireless hours leveling my character... simply awesome...

Wiped hard on Firemaw though.

Eelkram 11-02-05 10:52 AM

That's awesome! We just took firemaw down last week!

What was your general strat for Firemaw. We are currently using two tanks (+315 FR on each) and Priests with LOS spamming flash heals on both. Druids/Palys healing raid as they take damage from his fire wing attack. Our issue is we (priests) either go OOM or develpo too much threat.

What server are you on?

Eelkram 11-02-05 01:13 PM

I play on Alleria horde. General strat is about the same as yours. We have a MT and an offtank. Most of the healers are on them. We have a healer or 2 on the melee dps. They run in and out of LoS of firemaw to heal. Healing aggro is very common, especially if the MT gets a lot of unlucky hits. We also have problems with priests going oom. That is after they get innervates, mana pots, and whatever. We usually also put priests in a group with a shaman for mana tide and mana spring if mana tide is not up. Also, the ranged dps do not get any heals at all in our strat. They are responsible for doing a little dps and getting out of LoS to wait for the debuff to clear or to bandage themselves.

RoQuEr 11-02-05 02:18 PM

I find it ironic that the Chinese servers Heavily favor Horde.

Everything there is upside down.

I thought 255 was the cap for any resist

I never had anything above 100 so not sure. It may be 255 plus fire resistence aura of 60.

Eelkram 11-03-05 01:17 PM

There is no cap for resists. There is however, an maximum FR value that count towards FR calculations. The maximum FR you'll need for any mob is that mob's level * 5. For isntance, Ragnaros is effectively lv 63. Your max resistance against him will be 63 * 5 = 315. You can get resistances higher than 315, but they don't do anything.

Hit level 34 this weekend. Maxed out my Alchemy to 225 also. Does anybody know where I should go to get training for the last level of Alchemy up to 300? I'm Horde btw.

joeblow69 11-07-05 10:16 AM

Does anyone have the World Of Warcraft Atlas yet? Mine is getting delivered later today. I know all that stuff is available online, but I like to have the maps sitting in my lap while I play.

Pretty sure it's in Swamp of Sorrows in one of the bigger buildings. He's next to a demon trainer iirc.

DaveNinja 11-07-05 10:48 AM

I wouldnt mind having the atlas. it would be nice to look at while not playing WoW (i.e. on the toilet)

My mage is about to hit level 58. Went BRD friday night and got a great monocle. then went with an 8 man group to Scholomance and got the magister's crown and some nice gloves. I want to do more Scholo runs because the BoP drops are pretty nice.

khai 11-07-05 01:11 PM

You know dave, I did those runs and thought to myself.. why am I doing this? There's really no reason for a mage to run those really. Unless you want your magister's set, in which, I'll tell you right now that it would be a waste of your time since set pieces aren't worth it. You'll replace them quickly and they aren't all that great.

Just do your BRS runs to get your Eye of the Beast trinket. The rest is Dire Maul Dire Maul Dire Maul Dire Maul Dire Maul.

Dire Maul = Your crystal water quest, Rod of the Ogre Magi, and Crown of the Ogre King

You can get all sorts of other gear in there that's better than Scholomance/Stratholme raid runs, but those are your key mage pieces.

Well, I just got it, and after a quick glance, it seems pretty sweet. Barns and Noble listed it as paperback, but its actually a very large hardcover book. The maps aren't anything special (Just pretty much the same as the in game ones, with a grid superimposed on them) but they do list locations of different vendors and stuff.

I was hoping that it would be detailed enough to show you were all the specific herbs (and mines, I suppose) were, but all it does is tell you which zones each herbs are in.

DaveNinja 11-08-05 10:43 AM

I dinged 58 last night. Also helped a raid group do the Battle of Darrowshire. had the world server go down in the middle of one attempt so that sucked. luckily someone was able to start it again and complete it. I didnt have the quest so i didnt get much out of it except practice.

That's still pretty cool. I spend quite a bit of time hunting down herbs so that would help me out a lot. How much did this Atlas retail for?

It was around $16 at Amazon, but their estimated ship date was after xmas, so I got it for $18 at B&N.

There's not a lot of good info to just sit down and read (while on the john). It does have an index that shows you where all the mobs (including rare mobs, which I didn't even known exsisted) are, as well every NPC. So if you ever get one of those vague quests to kill 10 Defias Pooper Scoopers, you can just look them up and find exactly where they are on the map.

innocentfreak 11-09-05 10:46 PM

Any of the lower levels on Cenarius finding it tougher and tougher to find groups? I have rerolled multiple times on this server, but I have yet to hit 60. I am currently leveling a druid who I enjoy. She just hit 30 and I have had the toughest time finding groups for the entire time. It took me 4 days to get a group to VC. I lucked out on the Stockades, but now I am going on two days looking for a group for the elites in duskwood and the elites in the wetlands. Am I the only one finding this?
