How do old game boy games and GBA games look on the DS?
I don't really want a DS for the games, but I don't like the feel of the SP and I need some light on the screen, so with the recent price drop, I am considering a DS. No on the micro. Favorite game is Legend of the Fisher King for the GB. How do they look? What is on the other screen while playing? Thanks.

GBA games look great, but the DS will not play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games.
Wish it did. |
DS doesn't play GameBoy/Color games. Only GameBoy Advance and DS games.
Gameboy Advance SP plays all the old games plus GBA games. |
GBA games are BEAUTIFUL on a DS.

Damn, I love some of the old GB games, too. :(

You can choose which screen you would like it to play on. There's a small black border because the screen is larger than GBA games. The other screen is turned off.

Thanks. Seems stupid as hell that the DS won't play the old games.

It will with a flash cart, but that's also adding to the expense.

I believe it was a cost issue. The DS is one thing, but the Micro is not backwards compatible either and thats a real crappy decision. Guess they figure its time to leave the original GB and GBC behind, but I still have quite a few games.
The GBA SP is the last handheld made that works with all GB software. Also the DS screen is the same size as the GBA screen. However, the DS is a higher resolution and that is the reason for the border around the screen. |
