WooHoo, I finaly beat Supply Lines. I think the keys are 1. getting used to the controls of the plane. 2. Geting lined up right before opening fire and nailing the 3 guys in the south half before traveling Downtown to get the last 2.
The mission after was very cool, some funny dialog from CJ too.

I finally got 100%, with around 70 hours of play time and even that included using guides to find the hidden items (tags, snapshots, oysters, horse shoes), but not on missions. I became completely obsessed with this game. Of course, the rewards you get are totally not worth it, but it was a goal. I even did the stuff that wasn't required for 100% like the triathalons and getting 100% with each girlfriend.
The game was great overall, though I did have a major graphical issue where people would sometimes become invisible. Unfortunately this happened most in Los Santos during the turf wars. A tweek of the settings made it so they flashed, semi-transparent like, which made it playable.
Speaking of the turf wars, am I the only one who found recruiting a gang a complete waste of time. They got in the way much more often than they helped. Could the programers have at least put in them enough brains to stay behind me. Instead it seemed they always wanted to stand in front of me and talk, even when I was firing at the enemy. Overall, the friendly IA was horrible. The enemy IA was about as bad however. Their path finding was abyssmal.

My biggest beef with them was how when you had gang members with you, it seemed like it was next to impossible to find any enemy gang members to kill to start a war with. I wandered around turf for quite some time, yet none would spawn as pedestrians, or in cars. Or if I was really lucky, there would be one in a car and that would be it.

Starting turf wars can be a real bitch. I read a couple of FAQs and they were not all consistent on this point, but I'm pretty sure YOU have to be in the zone when you make the kills but the gang member does not. Having the sniper rifle helps a lot in that case. For example there is one zone that covers just the Jefferson hotel. It's very difficult to start a turf war on the street level, but if you get on the roof and use the sniper rifle it is easy. The actual fight is easy too since the stupid enemy ai never comes up on the roof.
Also, I found that it doesn't matter what type of gang member you kill. For instance I killed three latin gang members in Ballas territory and it started a turf war with the Ballas.

One is literally like the sidewalk in front of two buildings. You have to stand there and just hope that a group of pedestrian Ballas will spawn nearby, or hope to drag a few out of passing cars.
The other:

I found my gang members helpful once in a while. Particularly:
1. In a car... fill up a limo and watch the bullets fly. Very effective for drive-bys.
2. Trying to start gang wars: They'll usually spot an enemy who's in a car before I do. They run over, pull the dude out, beat him up, and basically start the gang war for me.

Is there any way I can unlock the entire map w/o completing all the quests? I'm bored with the quest stuff and want to explore. Anyway, I checked a few places online but didn't find anything.

Which version of the game? For the PC, you should be able to find a game save to download. For the XBOX version, the same thing, but you'll need an action replay to do it. I don't think there are any cheat codes that unlock different areas.

xbox (and I don't have xbox live). I guess I can just enter in cheats for all the weapons and health and so on, so that it's really easy to beat, but I didn't want to skip to the end. Mainly wanted to go to the casino and motorcycle around.

well, I can lock the wanted level using the cheat and go from there, but none of the casinos or points of interest are open, so it's kind of pointless. I guess I can just keep trying the missions that have been giving me trouble. I even have the cheat book and am god awful.

In previous versions (III & VC) the game tried to load the entire list upon launch, which for me meant about 15-20 mins of wait if I wanted to have my entire MP3 collection in the game. Does SA correct this?
Other than this, is it worth it to update my PC (lots of $$$) just for this game, or is the PS2 version reasonably just as good?

I figured out the proper order to kill the couriers but the last courier is such a dead eye dick, he smokes me even when I am a mile above him no matter how many bullets I spray his way. Thought I was going to throw my controller thru my screen tonight for the first time in a while.
I love this game but the RC controls suck! Any tips?

The only time you really don't want to do that is on the bike near the starting point. When you're going after that one, it's best to open fire from further away, as the guy will always get off the bike after you hit him. This makes him an even easier target, as it takes only a couple more hits to take him out.
