no really though i agree i think my box is the best console i've ever had i see no reason why i won't like the new one just as much. and i'll probably get a ps3 after all the price drops and get the new tekken game because other than that i've never seen any ps game i've liked.

I'm right there with ya. I always loved my sony products (I have a PS1 and PS2) but after I bought my XBOX, It quickly became my favorite system.
I make sure I say good night to it every night. My wife says I would rather sleep with it than her sometimes. Hey, what can I say, I doesn't complain. :D

Mr. Cinema 05-19-05 08:47 AM

I will get a 360, but my first choice will be a PS3. And I'm sure I'll get a Revolution down the road.

daniel18 05-19-05 02:07 PM

I'll get the X-Box 360 if it's fully backwards compatible. If not, then I'll get the Revolution.

~~ PAL ~~ 05-19-05 02:30 PM

For me, none at launch, since I still have massive packlogs in both PS2 and GC games. But the first one I'd pick up after pricedrop would probably be PS3.

edytwinky 05-19-05 02:39 PM

If the PS3 is nearly $400, there's no way I'd be buying one until the second round of pricedrops.

GatorDeb 05-19-05 08:20 PM

The GBA Micro is not a next-gen system, it's just a more portable one. Game GBA, smaller size.

I wont be getting any, just the DS and the PSP. I don't game at home, I do 99% of my gaming at work. Graphics don't matter to me at all. One of my favorite games is Zelda Minnish Cap. And I spent over 100 hours with the original Advanced Wars, over 60 with FF Tactics Advanced, and tens of hours with Golden Sun 1.

Yeah right ;)

Trigger 05-19-05 10:46 PM

I picked all 3 because I'll eventually get all 3 I think.

1. Xbox 360 - by far... with the launch library and multitude of features, it's the only one worth getting at launch.
2. Revolution - It can play every game they ever made... I might as well get it after a price drop or two... unless I hate the controller.
3. PS3 - originally first on my list of next gen systems, but dropped to 3rd after E3. I'll probably get one anyway since I don't have a PS2 and I have 30 games (lost it in the divorce). On the other hand, I might just get the slim ps2 and skip the PS3. Sad.

Kumar J 05-20-05 03:28 AM

Wait and see.Not in a hurry.I still got a lot of games to finish on my X-box

chess 05-20-05 08:46 AM

I'll probably get the revolution fairly close to launch. I used to be a bit of a Sony fanboy back in the PS/N64 days, but later bought a used N64, and have since accepted the reality that Zelda, Mario, and Metroid can do no wrong. Plus, Nintendo seems to be the only company that is interested in innovation in gameplay. Also, I love the classic games angle...though some of my lesser known third party favorites will surely be left out. Space Megaforce anyone?

I'll probably get one of the other two as my primary player for third party etc. If it weren't for Rockstar, Namco, and to a lesser extent Square, I probably wouldn't bother. I have zero interest in FPSs (except Metroid Prime) and I'm mildly interested in Blu Ray, so it'll probably be a PS3 for me....but not until a price drop or two.

edit to add...I have an awful lot of PS and PS2 games and backwards compatibility is a big selling point for me.

Tarantino 05-21-05 07:49 PM

Meh...probably none at launch, but eventually, I'll most likely get the X-Box 360. Hell, I've already got every NES, Super NES, and N64 game on my computer, so no need to get a Revolution.

Dawg 05-21-05 08:49 PM

I'm going to be getting the Revolution and the PS3.

I have to have my Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. The game download feature pretty much seals the deal with me. For the most part, I still have more fun with the pre-current generation systems.

The PS3 sounds excellent in terms of overall power and the inclusion of Blue-ray. I can get my EA Sports games.

I really have no interest in the 360 at this point, but that may change depending on launch titles. I have never been a fan of the Halo games and other first-person shooters. They bore the hell out of me. And to be honest, I hate Microsoft, as a corporation. Sorry, just a personal bias.

Setzer 05-23-05 12:02 AM

The PS3 was tops at E3. Totally blew me away. Nothing MS showed me has convinced me to buy a 360 at launch. I will eventually own one down the road but I'll wait for a price drop. Nintendo with their Revolution didn't excite me that much either but as with all Nintendo consoles I'll end up getting it at some point.

I own a PS2, Xbox and Cube and will likely have all the 3 of the next gen systems at some point but the PS3 will be first on the list. Can't wait for Spring 2006!

duff beer 05-23-05 01:11 AM

Revolution.

Also the best looking one too.

Jtnguyen12 05-23-05 07:57 AM

2-D action always the best cuz i m 2-D fans. I got to have all SNES games w/ any cost ;)

RandyM 05-23-05 05:00 PM

Currently have xbox, but I'll be going ps3 because of Blu-ray, and maybe Revolution also depending on the price.

Why bother buying a PS3 if you have a computer.

Because there will be great games on it in genres where PC gaming has little if any to offer (i.e. platformers, fighting games, and Japanese RPGs).

duff beer 05-23-05 10:27 PM

Revolution will take care of all of that.

Artman 05-24-05 12:57 AM

Article on CNN.com that I thought was interesting - I love the quote on PS3's power!

Pearson said the launch last week of Sony's PlayStation 3, a machine 35 times more powerful than the model it replaced, was a sign of things to come.

"The new PlayStation is one percent as powerful as the human brain," Pearson told the Observer. "It is into supercomputer status compared to 10 years ago. PlayStation 5 will probably be as powerful as the human brain."

duff beer 05-24-05 01:18 AM

1% is stretching it

tenaciousdave 05-24-05 02:30 AM

This guy also claima the PS5 will give digital immortality.

BTW this guy doesn't work for Sony, just some crazy loon.

Read the story here

I hope so, but I'm not optimistic. PS2 was definitely the place to be this gen for platformers and RPGs.

Save Ferris 05-24-05 09:18 AM

1. X360 -- already have it preordered
2. PS3 at launch (unless its much over $400)
3. Revolution way down the line

Unless some game really grabs me, the revolution will have to wait awhile. I have a feeling I'll enjoy the Xbox the most (as I do now) because of the online features. Many of my friends dont live close to me and MS Live is the best for multiplayer action.

Legolas 05-24-05 11:54 PM

Depending on backward compatiable capability, probably all three.

Are there any definite (or approximate) release dates set yet?

X-box 360, definitely this fall, probably in November.

PS3 and Revolution, not until 2006, likely fall 2006, I'm guessing Nov.

BGPu 05-25-05 12:58 PM

Probably all 3, but my order of preference is:

1 - PlayStation 3
2 - Xbox 360
3 - Revolution

Right now, the Revolution is just a slick looking case with the promise of "more Marios and more Zeldas" and the ability to download retro Nintendo games. At this point, nothing about that seems revolutionary

GreenMonkey 05-25-05 03:52 PM

We basically had a launch PS3 because my g/f (now wife) convinced me to split it with her so she could get her reserve...but the only PS2 game I had for over a year was Tekken Tag (she had Smuggler's Run and like one other iffy game). I played PS1 titles on it mostly during that period. Hell, I spent more time playing Dragon Warrior VII then any of the PS2 games.

So -
Right now it looks similiar to the order I got all 3 consoles this gen. Except the revolution's backwards compatibility made it worthwhile to get it near launch instead of the PS3. Maybe I'll actually have some worthwhile games to play. :D

I only play a few FPS, and generally only really enjoy them multiplayer (Halo 2 being an exception - single player game is OK) and on a PC. Quake 2 was my last big FPS addiction. So the normal pile of Xbox racing games/FPS will mean I will probably buy one in 2008 or so (I bought an xbox & live account this January for Street Fighter Anniversary/Guilty Gear online).

1 Revolution
2 PS3
3 Xbox360

mr_jbloggs 05-25-05 06:05 PM

Commodore 64 (with Disk Drive)
Dragon 32
ZX Spectrum

Sorry, I'm a little behind when it comes to gaming.

edytwinky 05-25-05 06:51 PM

Only one for sure I'll be buying at launch is Revolution.

Still unsure on XBox 360 though. Depends what launch games they have.

sambo777 05-27-05 09:36 AM

Presently have 2 xbox's system linked in the house so that my son and i can have fun, but will pick up xbox 360 when it is released. This is goin to be one kick ass machine. Game lineup for it is awesome. When the revolution appears, probably will pick it up also. Since i have no desire to play ps games, it was a no brainer for me to have no desire to get ps3. Of course the sony hype machine is running hot again, making promises of gameplay and system capabilities that will never be realized, just like they did with ps2. I really am turned off by the way sony creates an illusion of wonderment surrounding ps3...

So Microsoft isn't doing the same thing? -rolleyes-

Josh H 05-27-05 12:46 PM

Yeah, all companies do that. I just ignore the hype and don't start paying much attention until there are actually playable games out.

While on the toilet? If so me also.

eedoon 05-30-05 01:05 PM

None. PC gamer all the way. :D

Darknight 05-30-05 02:39 PM

I'll buy all three. In fact I may even buy multiple units. Why? Well for starters the price of a console isn't that much when you consider what kind of investment you are making. If you get it right away at likely a $299 price tag, you're investing something that will last you like 5 years at least as far as it being current and even longer after the next generation after it. Even if you get all three systems at launch, you'll probably be at around $800 investment for the next 5 to 6 years. A PC costs more than all three systems and doesn't last as long. By having all three systems, I simply decide what I want to play when games get released not waiting for a release on my system while the other system gets some big game. I simply play the games, not the consoles which has been my motto from day 1 as a gamer. Why multiples? To possibly play imports that never come out here. Out of the 60+ consoles I own, about a third of them are imports. I have duplicates for either the purpose of importing or simply collecting purposes. For example, I have an original Japanese PS2 which doesn't have a hard drive bay but has an external HDD. That I refuse to mod since its hard to find compared to a normal PS2. So I kept that clean. I also have an original PlayStation 1 which has the s-video port on the back. That I won't mod either. Come this spring, I'll be heading off to Japan to pick up a PS3 most likely. My rational is, either there will be a method to play games from all territories on it, or there will be some back door or something in it that will get fixed in most of the systems(Like my 1.0 PSP), or I will simply need to have one because there is no other way to play imports. Granted my import buying has decreased considerably this last generation, but there is always some hidden gem over there.

Josh H 05-30-05 02:58 PM

Of course the worth of that investment varies from person to person with how much time the spend playing games.

$800 isn't bad for someone like you given it sounds like you game a lot. For someone like me that games no more than 5 hours a week and even has lots of weeks where I don't touch a game, it's a lot.

Thus I'll probably only pick up one console next gen, and won't pay more than $200 for it.

I'm leaning toward the Revolution, mainly due to being able to download all the old nintendo games. At least I can be sure on it there will be lots of games I want to play, as I still play my SNES a lot, but I'm sick of dealing with dead batteries in carts.

I like a lot of what you had to say, but to be fair the xbox 360 has effectively cut the console life cycle to 4 years, and MS has not made a secret they think it should be even less for consoles to be "effective". Something to consider in the big picture.

Interesting how you compare the investment to a PC, I never thought of it like that. Though, a PC can do a lot more then just games.
