PS2 Multitap Question
 

We have both and older style PS2 and a new slim version. Now we are looking into getting a multitap and I'm seeing that the older multitaps will not work on the slim verison because of the connector.

Is there a new multitap that is compatible with both the Slim and old verison? If so, which is the best and where is it cheapest?

Yes there is a new one. The reason the old one won't work is because the memory card slot and the controller slot are closer together on the new models. I've also seen an "adapter" that will allow you to use the old multitap on the new models... that would seem to be the cheapest way, as long as everything else works the same.

You can get third party multitaps at Best Buy and Wal-Mart for about $15 each. I believe at least one of them works with both the old and new slim PS2's.

The new Sony brand multitaps for the slim PS2 have the word "two" down in the corner of the packaging. That is how you can tell, in case you were wondering.

Are the Sony ones still overpriced at 40 bucks a pop (at least, I think that's how much I paid for my original one)? I try to avoid third party stuff like the plague if first party is available, but that's some price difference. I'm looking into getting a slimline PS2 soon too..

That would be cool, I shelled out 40 cdn for mine. The network adapters are still going for $59, talk about being overpriced.

But do the third party ones work with all the games and are they reliable? The price difference isn't worth it if the thing doesn't fuction correctly or breaks.

I'm also looking into getting more controllers and I have the same worries about third party controllers.

Do the new slim compatible multitaps work with the older version PS2 as well?
