Half Life 2 (How to display FPS?)

What do I type in the console to display the frames per second while playing the game?

Is there a website that lists the commands I can type in the Half Life 2 console?

Here's one list I found.

http://www.kevinfreitas.net/halflife2cheats.html

This is the command for fps: cl_showfps 1

Could also use netgraph ... but that one is easier....

I used FRAPS mainly because I couldn't figure out how to get the console to work. And yes, I tried the -console tag to the .exe, but Windows didn't seem to like that being there. Told me it was invalid or something.

Brian.

To open the console, I believe you do something like: options, then keyboard, then advanced, then you check the "allow ~ to open console." It's something along those lines. Not sure if this is any help.

That might explain why I've never been able to open it. Thanks, I'll try that today.

oh no no to use any argument after the target you've got to do it like this

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe" console

and that has to be on an alias, there is one space after the quotation marks then the argument

it is the same for any program how you do this, I used Halo PC as an example

For Half Life 2 I simply 'right clicked' on the shortcut on my desktop.
Select 'Properties'.
Click on the 'Shortcut' tab at the top.
Under 'Target' you will see " -applaunch 220" after the Steam executable.
Simply add " -console" (that's a space just before the dash and, of course, do not use the quotations).
Then click on 'Apply' and 'OK' at the bottom.

This will enable you to access the console in the game.
The codes are as follows:

cl_showfps 0 (this turns it off)
cl_showfps 1 (this turns the FPS counter on)
cl_showfps 2 (FPS counter is on but more stable to read; this is what I use)

Damn this game is power hungry. :p
