Want to get Xbox live but don't have internet/computer

Hi. Is there a way I can connect through my cable coaxial thing? what hardware do I need? thanks a lot!

Noonan 01-10-05 02:46 PM

You don't need a computer, but you will need a cable/DSL modem along with internet service.

dick_grayson 01-10-05 02:53 PM

shit, oh well. so there's no way to do it w/o internet service? if I had internet service I would therefore have internet porn and would not need video gaming.

Look at it this way...
You can be like most of us and play with both controllers.

Boobies are great, but you also need a healty dose of violence to have a balanced Internet diet. ;)

Corleone 01-11-05 06:02 PM

At work or school?

Anyway, you'd need a computer to set up your broadband internet account, so you could borrow one for that. Once the account is set up, you would enter this information into the Xbox and you're set.

You're not online, but you want to do online gaming?

yes. I want to play Halo 2 online and stuff. I don't want to spend all my free time looking at internet porn and playing some rpg.

in all reality, I still think computers are [kind of] a waste of time. I'm only here because I don't have anything to do at work. video games are a waste of time, too, but I only play once in a while. happy, pappy?

Also, I'm not diciplined enough to use something like that. How's a brother supposed to ignore a thread about some trashy celeb's nipple slip or a pic of one of her pancakes hanging out?

tek2k 01-12-05 03:39 PM

shut up already. this whole thread is stupid. xbox live is for playing games ONLINE. is it really that hard to figure out that you need an INTERNET connection to play ONLINE? now you say games are a waste, so why even bother with making this stupid thread in the first place?

well, someone told me I could do it though my cable connection, so I was looking into it. thanks for your worthwhile post, though. I'll make sure to add you to my ignore list.

They were right... but you need a cable modem/I'net service to do it.

vaporware 01-12-05 03:55 PM

By the time this thread is done your ignore list will be so big you'll only be able to view the admins/mods posts.

well, it can be closed since I got my answer already. and you'd be surprised how many people provide helpful answers with out all the jackassery. most people seem to get that you can be clever without being an asshole when posting.

It depends on your ISP. Time Warner in NYC has MAC filtering and you have to have one of their cable modems. Your cable company may not do MAC filtering and all you may need is a cable modem that works on their network that you can get on ebay.

Don't try to steal cable because you may think you can get it for free. If your ISP detects internet traffic from you they may start charging you including a fine.

It'd be nice if everyone could simply answer your original question without being an asshole (as some have), but you did set yourself up for this one. You want to play online gaming without getting internet service, which is somewhat contradictory.

Anyway, you got your answer. Since you're okay with closing this thread ... CLOSED.
