OXM January 2005

The demo disc in this issue was actually pretty cool. It has a Live demo of Burnout 3, the Punisher, SR5, and my favourite - Mercenaries. I'm actually kind of excited for Mercenaries now, i've played through the demo 5 or 6 times and done something different each time. Flying the helicopter was pretty fun and getting taken out by people on the ground was awesome too. It says the game comes out in 2005 but now i'm very interested in finding out when.

The Punisher was awful, there is something a little odd about interactive torture scenes to get information from a bad guy. The run and gun and special kills were funny though - nothing like stuffing a grenade in someones mouth, they run off to their friends and then explode everyone. Pretty dumb stuff really.

I also haven't figured out the code for the easter egg yet. When i do that i'll throw it up on here as well as what the egg is.

oh yeah!

Mercenaries is great. It's like Freedom fighters with interactive vehicles/enviroment ala halo 2.

The punisher sucks! It's trying to be max payne (and no it's not a compliment) The controls are stiff. The AI is dumd and the graphics aren't well done. There is potential in the game but it just needed more time to develop.

Speaking of which, do you know the code for the other Japanese exclusive demo which was (I believe) on the Dec. disc. - I couldn't follow their tips too well.
