Any games in widescreen?
I just bought a widescreen HDTV and was wondering if there are any games out there that takes advantage of the wider screen? Most games are 4:3 in size but are there any that are able to display in both standard and widescreen?
Thanks! |
There's actually several...mostly on the Xbox, with a few for Gamecube and PS2. Check the back of the box.
First widescreen game, I believe, was Goldeneye (1997). |
I notice that most XBox games state that it supports 480p but are there any that supports true HD in 720p or 1080i?
Also, is it true that the new slimline PS2 does not support HD resolution? |

I noticed that the list states that Burnout 3 for XBox is 16:9 enabled but I can't get it to display in widescreen.
I have widescreen enabled in my XBox console setting and I'm connecting to the TV with component video inputs. I still see the screen in 4:3. Can anyone help? |
Depending on your tv, you may need to put the tv into full mode. Some 16:9 games start up as 4:3 on my tv (Sony Grand Wega) with a squished image. If you select full mode it should stretch the image out to fill the screen.

Yes, I have the Grand Wega too. Looks like I have to go home and try the Full mode then.

www.hdtvarcade.com is a good resource.

Make sure you've changed your video settings in the Xbox's dashboard. Enable 720p, 1080i, widescreen, etc.

i think the vvegas have 1 default setting for video types (w/ a caveat). i use "Normal" so that when i watch regular tv, it isn't stretched out.
when i switch to xbox, i have to manually change it to "Full". |
