I found a copy locally, and after the longest install process of my entire life (nearly 40 minutes  ) I got the game up and running.
And I am totally overwhelmed. The game is very fun, but the amount of choices are mind-staggering. I don't even remember which server I'm on at the moment. :D I picked a normal non-PvP server, because all the role play servers were on medium load. I rolled up a Paladin as my goofing around character, just because I always tried to play a Paladin in D&D. I managed to get up to level 5 in around an 1/1.5 hours... but damn I've got a lot to learn. I'm looking forward to playing again tonight, hopefully. (My local Gamestop had around 20 copies in stock yesterday... they said they'd just received them, so more may be shipping out.) EDIT: The server is Lightbringer. WoW's forums are nifty in that you can see your character. |

Ive been playing a lot with my wife (got another copy of the game and another computer). Lots of fun. I'm playing a human mage now and my wife is helping me level up fast. She's a level 16 or 17 paladin and i was able to get up to level 11 in 6 or 7 hours of play.
I got Enchanting and Tailoring as professions, so its fun improving those and making bags is great. Anyone know a source for wool if you dont have skinning? |
Wool isn't gathered from skinning, it drops off of Humanoids. Basically, kill things that are intelligent and wear clothes.
I'm not a tailor, but I make a killing selling cloth in the auction house. Every time I get a bundle of 20 I mail it to my alt, who is stationed in Orgrimmar, and she puts it on the market. Sometimes it sells in seconds after I put it up for sale. I tried the tailor profession in Beta, I thought it was a lot of fun (and profitable too...bags especially are in high demand). But yeah, kill humanoids. |

?
I think it did download the updates before I started playing. It sure downloaded something (took maybe 5 minutes). |
The patch goes a lot more quickly now that there arent half a million people trying to get it at once.
The copy of the game i bought off the scalper a couple days ago came with the 10 day guest pass. i thought this pass was only with the CE. Anyone know how the guest pass works? do they install the game from the cds and then enter the guest code instead of the cdkey? (i could look and it but its at home and i am not and when i'm at home i'm playing wow) |

Well, Cenarius is down again for at least 2 hours... Supposedly the boats were causing interference or whatnot and were the cause of the problems... Funny thing is, Blizzard's forums are also down.
I think I'll just quit WoW and join a gym :) |
Hrmm. Inauspicious beginnings.

I want to play when I want to, not when Blizzard allows me to... Christ, 3 days ago at 3 AM I could not sleep and wanted to play some WoW for about an hour; no could not... |

Well crap. What server SHOULD I pick? I don't want PvP, so what would be the best option? |

Malygos (non-pvp) has been somewhat reliable.
Been on it since around early Dec. Does anyone know how to advance past 250 in leatherworking? I heard that you need to choose betweek dragonskin and elemental. I found the elemental guy. where is the dragonskin guy? do you need to do a quest or will he just talk to you? what is the diff between the 2? I upgraded my memory from 512 to 1 Gig. I still get a few secs of freeze up when I enter IF, but it seems to be better. what really helps is the smoothe Griffin rides. Griffin rides are no longer choppy. |

There are 3 master leatherworking classes: tribal, elemental, and dragonscale. You can only chose to master in one of them. Dragonscale leatherworking only produces mail armor, so if your character can't wear mail I would avoid it. I'm not sure where the trainer is for it. Tribal leatherworking's trainer is on the east edge of Feralas. You must do the Wild Leather quests in Feralas before you can train in Tribal. Elemental leatherworking's trainer is in the southeast side of the Searing Gorge, the Tanner camp. I don't remember exactly but you have to be a certain level and your leatherworking must be a certain level as well before they will give you their respective quests. From what I've read, the elemental leatherworking is a bitch due to the low drop rates of the items needed for it. I am still debating on which to train in, tribal or elemental. Supposedly elemental produces items that are good for rogues and tribal is good for druids, but I have yet to see any proof of this. I am waiting out to see if any better items show up in elemental before I commit to one. Hope this helps :) Edit: meant to say Master not Artisan leatherworking |
I've been to aeirie peak and been trained by him.
He only trains up to 250. I'm a hunter and am mostly interested in mail with +agility. intellegince and stamina would be next on my list. I guess dragonscale is what I should go for? |
also what does it mean to "specialize"?
does that me you get special bonuses on that class of leatherworking? If I specialize in dragonscale, would you still be able to make the other stuff - elemental, tribal? |

Well, I assume leatherworking specialization works like blacksmithing. In blacksmithing you can specialize in either weaponsmithing or armorsmithing. You only get to be one or the other, not both. They each get access to all the same artisan blacksmithing plans, but they also get plans that are exclusive to each one. Weaponsmiths get extra high lvl weapons plans and Armorsmiths get extra high lvl armor plans. I'd assume leatherworking is the same way. If you went dragonscale, you wouldn't ge able to get plans that are exclusive to someone who went tribal or elemental. |
I am almost positive that he's the one that trains you up to the 300 cap. Yes, you can only choose one of the three: dragonscale, tribal or elemental.
Here is a great thread that covers quite a bit concerning the higher leatherworking. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...ns&T=20667&P=1 |
Note that the Dragonscale line allows you to make Mail, which is ideal if you play a class that gets to wear mail at 40.
|
Hhmm, maybe I misunderstood you timewaster. I thought you were saying your maximum level for leatherworking 250. I am assuming now your cap is 300 and your leatherworking level is 250. If you don't have any items that you can make now that will raise your skill level I suggest you go to Feralas and do the Wild Leather quests. If you do decide to do this, I suggest you get a lot of turtle scales and thick leather cause you'll need them to complete the quests. If I remember correctly, it takes 192 thick leathers and 112 turtle scales and misc. threads to make everything needed for them. Oh, and you'll also need wildvine, which is a pain in the ass. :)
|
I could've sworn that my current cap is 250 after training with the guy in aeirie peak, but I could be wrong.
can't check right now since I'm at work. I do know for sure that the hardest recepies sold by the guy at aeirie peak has skill of 250. i.e. rugged leather armour patch requires a skill of 250 and it is 1 of the last recipes you can buy from him. can't really read any Wow forums since they're blocked for me at work :( |
