So I'm looking to replace my game-only TV with a computer monitor...
...and I need some help.
My 12-year-old bedroom TV died today, so my 9-year-old game-only 20" TV/monitor has been moved there. This gives me a good excuse to shop around for a replacement display device for games
I've seen the big price drops for standard TV's and have been looking at the 20" flat-screen TV's in the sub-$150 range. I've also noticed the price slashing on 17" CRT monitiors (like the one at Office Max for $69 next Friday). This poses the question -
How difficult and expensive would it be to connect my XBox/PS2/GC setup to a VGA monitor ?
I currently use RCA on the 20" TV (and S-Video when I move a system to the living room TV for the day), and I know that hooking my consoles up via component video is straightforward if the monitor has component inputs. But what sort of adaptation would be needed to get the most out of my consoles ? I would really like to play Halo2 in 480p, or Soul Calibur in 720p, or even GTA:SA in 480p on a computer monitor if such a thing is doable for a reasonable price.
I see some component-to-VGA converters for $300, some for $50; I see cables for $80 and some for $18. It's all confusing to me, so I turn to the forum for help. Any you can give me will be appreciated.
