I have a 48" Mitsubishi RPTV HDTV with the Monster HD Cable set and I get cut off. (Sound like I'm in AA)
Any word from Bungie on this yet? |
OK, like I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm playing the game on a 4:3 aspect ratio, 27" tube using S-video cables.
I finally got around to trying the game on my 61" widescreen JVC LCOS...just as I expected: The picture is not as "sharp" or "clean" as compared to the picture I get on my tube TV. Again, I blame this on the material itself being programmed in 480P (remember this is NOT a hi-def resolution). However, I am not getting any of the screen cut-offs on the sides nor up and down. This is with the Xbox dashboard set to widescreen and all resolutions set to 'progressive'. |
If this seems to be the only issue in the One and Only thread here, Halo 2 seems pretty strong compared to many other releases. I've played through most of the game on my 60" 4:3 Mits and have seen no issues to report, I haven't noticed any audio drop outs either, pretty solid game, hoo-ra!

Bungie has addressed the 3 main problems people are complaining about.
|
I have a glitch that hasn't been mentioned. Had a bunch of guys over last night and one guy, after about an hour of kicking our asses, suddenly he only had half his shields. Even when he would respawn, he would only have half. It was kinda nice kicking his ass for a few rounds, but then it went back to normal. Very odd.
|
Is there a glitch with shooiting enemies? It's probably just me but whenever I start shooting at someone then they start shooting I almost always die before them. It's as if my friggin guns don't work. I'm not the best but I'm also not a total n00b so I don't get why this happens. Could it be my Cable connection? Is DSL better? Is it a glitch in my game? It's as if some players have guns on "super mode".
I know it sounds like a poor player trying to cover up for shitty abilities but it's not. |
No, I'm with you GR. This guy we played was winning and the next closest person was around 15 kills to his 25. Now whenever we played the original Halo, he would finish in the top 5 regularly but never blew anyone away. It was frustrating as hell. I would run up on him in a gun battle with someone else. This guy is unloading into him and dies, so I run in duel weilding expecting to clean him up since his sheilds are(should be) down from the first battle. I am unloading on him and I end up dead. There just wasn't something right. Everyone on my team noticed. It seemed it didn't matter what you fired at him, he would live and the opposing force died. It isn't wining either, b/c like I said he was a top 5 player, but never that good. For reference, among our group, I am usually in the top 3. So him winning by an average of 10 every game? Uh-uh something has to be up. So...
We had 8 guys, and 3 tvs. Set up 4-2-2. Well before everyone got there, he was quite eager to get on one of the solo tv's (facing a way no one can see his screen). When I was cleaning up today I found an Action Replay card. I tried to find something through google, I know you can d/l cheats, but as far as enhancing your player? I couldn't find anything... but... Loaded up a multi-player game by myself to do a little researching. Well, you can set your own handicap DURING a game. When I set one of the guys to high, this seemed to be about what was going on last night. I could take another player drop a couple grenades on his head and unload on him with duel weapons and it barely fazes the guy. Mind you this is a guy standing still. Imagine a moving target! This had to be what was up. He definitely isn't getting his own tv next time, if he is invited back. He could have set it to the highest at the beginning of the night and left it there the whole time. Fuckin' cheater. Cheaters are not welcome. Makes me wonder if you can do that on Live. Hopefully not. |
Whenever I experience lag, I suddenly find myself transported to another part of the map. For instance, my connection will pause slightly when I'm in a building. The next thing I know, I'll be on another floor of the building.
Does anyone else have this problem? |

Been playing campaign and LIVE and have had no issues except I noticed the cut scene drop-in from time to time. One in particular is when Sarge is sitting between two Marines and they both say Oooh-Rahh!! at the same time. At the very beginning, the Sarge isn't even there and pops in a few seconds later.

Is the handicap causing that? I know very often I'm unloading my guns into a guy or a granade and gun combo and it barly does any damage it seems. He hits me a few times with his guns and I'm dead.

I've come up on guys from behind, I open up on him, he then turns, shoots, and takes me right out. I even tried firing at the head in the hopes of quicker kill and it makes no difference. I end up getting killed 1st. |
No, you do not suck that bad.
This is simply a scenario/match where your opponent has an "unfair" advantage. I can see it now... This same issue will return when the mouse-keyboard combo (i.e. Lik-Sang) makes the scene. Again, a program to detect the M-K combo can be utilized to announce to other players and all is good again. |

Originally posted by Giantrobo I'm not sure I understand your post. Why would keyboards affect this? Shooting at someone forever as well as using grenades but only to get killed yourself usually means something fishy is going on. It sucks when someone has an unfair advantage. The whole time you're playing you think the other guy is some super-human or you start doubting your own skills. This unbalances the match. With regards to the M-K combo, what I meant here is just agnother example of how someone again can have an unfair advantage in MP. |
Oh ok.

Head shots make a big difference. There have been a lot of people we've been playing in the clan that are REALLY good at aiming for the head. That will take you down in just a couple of shots. Also, some guys usually make a dash for the overshields right away, which will also make them seem invincible, while you are unloading into them and they walk away. One other thing that affects things is your weapon. If you're using the SMG, it gets pretty unreliable at any distance more than close range. I don't know about any of the other weapons.

The SMG is definitely range sensitive just like the shotgun, but unlike the shotgun, is not as damaging up-close.
You really have to unload a lot in short range for the SMG to be effective which takes up time. Headshots are definitely more lethal with any of the weapons, but I have my doubts. Especially with some of the stories I'm hearing in this thread. |
Early in the game during the portion where you have to follow the large ship via the Ghost I accidently jumped out of the Ghost while slightly above one of the areas which was shooting at me.
I guess I wasn't high up enough to die but I landed between two walls that were too high to jump from so I could only run back and forth but couldn't get out. Strangely enough, during the 15 minutes I ran around trying to find a way out the game auto saved so I had to restart the level..... |
These complaints are exactly the reason why Bungie has made all ranked games random. By taking the game options away from the host, it removes the ability for anyone to cheat. If you are having problems with cheaters, stop playing custom games and hop into matchmade games instead. That way, you'll get killed fair and square! ;)
|
There is no jump death in campaign. I dont know about multi thought.
Bungie has a vehicle post on their front page talking about jumping from Banshies |
I did notice, if you pause on Live, the option IS there for the Handicap. I didn't take my chances by messing with it, in case it did pop something up on everyone elses screen. I'll have to wait and try it when I'm only in with friends.
