Games like Advance Wars
Was just wondering if anyone knows of any games like Advance Wars 1 and 2 and Military Madness. Guy at EB recommended Fire Emblem, but it isn't really the same type of game. I'm looking for basically stripped down RTS type grid games with turn based fighting.

I'd recommend against FF Tactics, especially the GBA version.. WAY too much micro-management, not enough fun. Try Shining Force.. of course.. all the games mentioned are fantasy, swords and magic based as opposed to the military based ones you mentioned.. but they essentially the same style game, just different setting.

I was just about to say Nectaris/Military Madness... (which you mentioned in your first post...)
Fire Emblem is pretty similar, actually... there's the rock/paper/scissors aspect of battling, different types of units, and each character is pretty much a unit. It may not seem to be on the same scale, but it's essentially the same.
Not many military based ones have come out recently that I can remember, but La Pucille Tactics, Phantom Brave, Disgaea, Shining Force, Tactics Ogre, FF Tactics, etc. are all turn based rpgs.

Does anybody remember Warlocked on the GameBoy Color? It surprised the hell out of people back then that you could pull off a very well done Warcraft clone even with the GBC's limitations. I'd love to see an RTS like that on the DS, especially since it will have the stylus to select units (or maybe even use voice commands).
